Just to clarify, by the "back side" of the building do you mean the end of the building closest to the Skyliner but still facing the pool? Because the rooms at that end of the building closest the Skyliner but *not* facing the pool (facing the lake instead) are standard rooms, not preferred. You definitely won't have pool noise in those rooms.

This is correct. Rooms facing the lake in buildings 4 and 5 are standard rooms.

Rooms facing the splash pad are preferred rooms. The rooms directly behind thise, facing the lake are standard rooms. Please see the map on page one.

I think you’re misunderstanding what this poster is asking.

The poster is simply asking if the preferred rooms not facing the pool area are noisy.
To me, it means they are asking about the preferred rooms in the courtyard facing the 70’s or 50’s buildings.

They’re not asking about the standard rooms facing the lake, or the preferred rooms that face the splash pad/pool area.

We were looking so forward to our stay at POP in 46 days but my Wife's plantar fasciitis has flared up over the last month and we are going to be cancelling our trip this week. Such bad timing and unfortunate. We love Pop so much.

Oh no! Don't cancel just rent a scooter for your wife! The skyliner is wonderful with scooters and the buses accomodate also.

There is a map on page one of the thread which shows where rooms are located at Pop. Buildings 4 and 5 are closest to both transportation modes but are also the most requested room locations. There are standard rooms in every building so it really depends on where your room is located. If you want to be close to buses and Skyliner, I would recommend you not select Standard Pool View rooms.

We've stayed at Pop 30+ times and find standard rooms work for us. If we are assigned a room in building 7, 8 or 9 I go to the front desk and request to be moved. Normally they can move us either that day or the day following but it's also not guaranteed.

The line for the Skyliner is quite long at park opening but it also moves quickly and constantly. Far better than bus lines that stop and start as buses arrive.

If you have the money to try Pop, I would recommend giving it a try to find out how it is. Most of us find the Skyliner is a game changer and we stay here each trip! While it's great for getting to DHS and Epcot, it also opens up a world of options for dining as it's easier to get to resorts throughout property by hopping on the Skyliner to DHS and then taking a bus anywhere from there!

Buildings 4 and 5 would be the closest to the Skyliner. We were in Building 6 non preferred and it was not a long walk to the Skyliner either. I would 100% book Pop over Sports as we think the Skyliner is fantastic. The line can look pretty long but since it is continually loading, the line moves pretty fast.

We have a preferred room booked. I know preferred will have the best location in general, but just looking for the best area to choose for the walk to the bus.

I was thinking 70s. Would a cut through the parking lot or through the food court work to get to the buses easier? Also, there isn’t a pool so I feel it may not be as loud, but open to suggestions.

I'd recommend doing something that you can take the Skyliner to instead of using the busses. Anything in the preferred location will be close to the busses.

I like 60’s building #5 in the preferred rooms facing the inner courtyard. For me, I just like walking through the foodcourt/lobby to get to the buses. I don’t find it too far and the MK bus is right out the foodcourt door.

The 70’s preferred is okay too, but it feels far walking around the winding pathways to get to the buses when you’re not cutting through the building. Maybe that’s just me though.

Check out the map on page 1, post#2 if you haven’t already. I find it really helpful, especially when looking at preferred room locations.

It depends which parks @pens4821 is going to.

MK and AK are accessed using the bus. Epcot and DHS are accessed via the Skyliner.

Also, not all Preferred locations are closer to the buses. If the OP is placed in building 4 or 5 preferred rooms, they are closer to the Skyliner.

Should’ve mentioned we will be there while the skyliner is closed. Which in a way works out better because we want to go to Epcot and ride GoG for early entry. Would be at a disadvantage using the skyliner (as we are when staying at the Yacht Club).

I am heading back to PoP at the end of April! Since it is only 3 days, I booked a standard room. The only thing I don't like about a standard room is that I am traveling solo and don't like being in the far flung parts of the resort.

With the help of this great thread and staying at Pop MANY times I never needed to ask any questions but there's a first time for everything I guess. My husband and I arrive Sunday October 26th. I always call in my room requests and yes I know they are not guaranteed but I was also thinking of mailing them to the Pop room assigners. @scrappinginontario I know you did this in August so is mailing my letter out October 14th good timing? Your thoughts please. Any one else who did this can chime in also. Another question. I have family joining us this time. They want to request connecting refurbished rooms near the parking lot. Since bldgs 1 and 2 are the closest refurbished bldgs would it be better to request those bldgs or just leave it near the parking lot. I know bldgs 8 9 and 10 are close also but they are not refurbished yet. I never need this request because I never have a car. So any helpful thoughts on this is also appreciated. Thanks. Looking forward to my Pop stay in 16 days

My personal thoughts are, if you are placed in a building where your room number starts with a 2, 7, 8 or 9, go to the front desk and request to be placed in a different room. I would be very honest with them and share why you are making your request and I think they will do everything they can to move you.

I will say, I am often on my own at Pop and feel very safe there but I also understand your concern. Hope it works out and you're in the perfect location for you!

Yes, I think that's a good time to send your request to give it time to arrive around the time they will be doing room assignments.

Personally, I would not even mention requesting a refurbished room as the changes are so minor that to me (and only my opinion) they would likely be just as happy in a non-renovated room. (Renovations are a piece of the flooring, paint, garbage cans, curtain and mattresses. Possibly the mattress is the biggest change although I never had problems with the mattresses even before the refurbishment.)

It's up to them but yes, if they definitely want a refurbished room they would want to request buildings 1 or 2 but building 2 can be a longer walk to Classic Hall, buses and Skyliner, depending on where in the building their rooms are located.
