My wife and I are staying in a 1 bedroom suite at OKW around the 4th of july. the rooms next to the olivia's are all booked up. I was thinking about asking to stay near the turtle ____ area for the pool bar (my wife would love that) and maybe to stay on a top floor if possible so we don't have to hear tigger bouncing above us.

so my question is are the other ressie requests to make that are better/more important than the ones I thought of already. I know there are no promises, just want to make sure I do this the best I can!

thanks in advance for the help!

Remember, there are no elevators at OKW except for Bldg 62, 63 and 64 which were added on later in 1998 or 1999. We never have a problem with the stairs, but if you don't realize there aren't elevators it could be a surprise.

We like Turtle Pond area and usually request a water view or golf course view (which is about what you can get at OKW anyway).

I would second a top floor reservation - it does make it quieter and more relaxing.

I'd second top floor also, but I'd make it Miller's Road (if you still want to be easy walking to HH) or specifically request building 45 or 46....BEST buildings at OKW!!:thumbsup2

We will be staying at OKW next month for the first time (our home resort is SSR). We're looking forward to this trip because we love the OKW theme. I requested the Turtle Pond Road area because I thought I remembered that it was pretty and peaceful when we rode through there. Was that a good choice? I do remember the DVC driver telling us about buildings 45 and 46. What area are they in? We will be going with DS and DDIL and this will be there first time staying at a DVC resort ( I made my son a co-owner with me) so I want it to be as nice as possible for them.

45 and 46 are probably considered South point area, but even more specifically, canal view, along with bldg 55.

Turtle Pond is also a lovely area, most building there are considered golf view. I think you'll be happy with the Turtle Pond area.

I rarely request any specific area of the resort, and leave it up to chance.

As lovely as the canal views are, remember that they will lack privacy because of the DtD boats going by. It really depends upon just what type of vacation you're looking for.

There really aren't any "bad" areas at OKW, though I personally try to avoid bldg 27 to 29, there is nothing wrong with the rooms, but the rugged and heavily wooded views leave a lot to be desired in those buildings.

Thanks, Chuck S!
I think I'll leave the Turtle Pond Road request in and see what we get. I'm sure we'll be very happy where ever we are. I'm very excited about staying in OKW!

I think you will have agreat time at OKW, we always do. We stayed last July 4th, they had a golf cart all decortated for the holiday, so cute! We stayed near hospitality house and just walked across a small road to the bus stop, the only thing about it was, we were near the road and you could hear the busses drive by. It really didnt bother us, I sat on the balcony in the ams with my coffee, that`s when I noticed it. OKW is one of our favorites, because the rooms are spacious, and they use less points as well. Enjoy the 4th. If your at Magic Kingdom that day, I would suggest getting a table outside the ice cream parlor in advance to watch the fireworks, they were great from there!

I tend to request "what" I want, rather than "where". That usually translates to "a quiet water view."

One more thing to note: buildings 29 and lower do not have a door between the living room and the master bath. Buildings 30 and higher do. For a couple, this probably doesn't matter, but if you have anyone staying on the pull out, it makes a big difference for everyone's privacy.
