First time in DL. Which of my two dates do you suggest.

I can go August 3 and 4 and the parks are open later but more crowds or I can go Sept 7 and 8th assuming less crowds (though it is labor day) however park closes at 8pm and Haunted Mansion/Jungle Cruise is closed.

Do you mean Space Mountain instead of the Jungle Cruise? Space usually closes for 4-days before the start of HalloweenTime for the installation of the Ghost Galaxy overlay.

I would probably opt for August 3 and 4 because of longer park hours and more entertainment. At this point, we do not know what PtN's schedule will be like in the non-peak season, but if you go on Sep 7 and 8, there is a good chance that Disneyland Forever (fireworks) and F! will not be presented on those evenings (they don't normally run on the weekdays in the fall).

Just noticed SM is also closed.

I honestly have 0 interest in watching Ptn so that wouldn't be an issue for me.

I wouldn't put a lot of faith into the refurbishment lists for September at this point. DLR does not release it's operating calendar until about 45-days (6 weeks) in advance, so we don't really know what will be closed (and when) in August or September at this point. I didn't see Jungle Cruise listed on Wdwinfo.com's September 2015 calendar and I haven't heard any rumors of a Halloween overlay for Jungle Cruise (there is one for the Holidays), so at this point, I would think it will be open in September.

Space Mountain at DLR and WDW are different. I like both and can't really say exactly what is different, but they are different attractions.

it was on wdwinfo.com
Is Spacemountain better at DL?

Oh...I can...Space Mountain at DL faster, smoother, and just an all-around more engaging ride. DL's SM is favorite of my son/family; MK's version bored us all. Slower, jerkier, not as tight, poor audio, etc.

The only advantage the MK has is a better queue area.

Thanks. What about HM?

WDW HM is longer with more nooks and crannies.

DL big advantage is mid-September through New Years with Haunted Mansion Holiday...the whole interior is redone for Nightmare before Christmas.

I would definitely go in September to avoid the summer crowds. In August the hours are longer, but you are spending those extra hours in lines all day. No thanks! Touringplans lists August 3-4 as an 8 and 9 level crowds (out of 10) versus September 7-8 are listed as a 3 and a 2. I would go in September without reservation and would not worry about missing a few attractions.
