First time in 2-bedroom Villa, how do I clean it?

I have seen multiple posts about what people clean in their room and how they do it. It is usually just DH, DS, and myself so we always stay in a studio. I always go in and clean the obvious (phones, remote, switches, handles, etc), but is there anything else I need to know about a 2 bedroom? We are taking my grandmother (79) and mother (58) with us, so I want everything to go as smoothly as possible. Finally, what do I need to take with me as far as cleaning products for dishwasher and laundry. I do know the tip about using a dishwasher tab in the Jacuzzi tub. Thank You so much, we will also be going the week after Thanksgiving...Soooo excited

We've been DVC members since 1995 and have never done any cleaning when we check in. The rooms are all cleaned before you get there so it shouldn't be an issue.

We bring a bottle of laundry detergent because they only leave 1 box of All or Tide. Some people bring scented liquid hand soap and disinfected wipes. Coffee filters are a must if you bring your own coffee.

I also bring a rubber spatula and a sharp paring knife as I have never found either in a 1 or 2 bedroom villa. Now if you don't intend to cook on vacation, scratch the last 2 items.

Relax and have fun on your trip. Don't worry about cleaning.

I've been a member for 15 years and have never done any cleaning. I used to travel for work a lot, at one point I was gone 85 nights a year. Never did any cleaning in hotel rooms and was rarely sick.

I don't clean either. I'm lucky if I clean my house, much less a timeshare room that just saw maid service.

Member since '93, we have never cleaned the room upon arrival. We do wash the dishes before we use them.
Before checkout we clean the dishes, pick-up and dispose of all the trash, strip the beds, and vacumn the floors.
If there is an issue with the cleanliness of the room when you check-in be sure to inform both mousekeeping and the front desk.

The first time I ever stayed at a DVC villa I found that the dishes were put back in the cupboard dirty. I noticed this when I went to get my daughter a drink and I had already used a glass. There was dried milk in the bottom of several glasses and bits of cereal in the bottoms of the bowls. I was very disgusted. Since then I always run the dishes through the dish washer before using them. On a subsequent trip I found the cheese grater so incrusted in old dried cheese it took about 20 mins of soaking in hot water before I could scrap it off.

There's a cheese grater? LOL. You can see I don't cook. I've never noticed the few dishes I've used being dirty. That would gross me out.

I don't clean anything but have extra laundry supplies in my Owner's Locker.

I too don't do any real cleaning except; the Jacuzzi. I will run it through a few times. Even though the tub is cleaned, I did read somewhere on this board, that water from the "last person" can stay in the pipes and return to your water once the jets are turned on. Is it true? Have no idea. So ever since I read that, I will run the Jacuzzi with some bleach for a few minutes then rinse thoroughly. Makes me feel better!

I bring Clorox wipes and wipe every surface down. I also clean the fishes and the entire kitchen thoroughly. My daughter has a life threatening peanut allergy and I try to remove any possible peanut residue.

I draw the line at cleaning the fishes. I figure they are clean enough, swimming around in that water, and all!

In 17 years of ownership I have never done any cleaning at check in. During the stay we will vacuum, as necessary, make our beds and wash the towels from time to time. That's about it.

Since you already have items you like to go over just to be sure, I can't think of any additional items that you would encounter in the large units. We have stayed in many 2 bedrooms and haven't needed to do any additional cleaning.

If you are the type to wipe down, there will be extra bathrooms to wipe down. Some people put dishwasher detergent (supplied) in the jacuzzi - others think its too gross regardless - and some just climb in.

There will be extra phones (one in each room) and remotes (again, at least one in each room).

We check our dishes before we use them - we have had a dirty coffee cup or two - we just throw them in the dishwasher when it happens. Someone like quandra has a good reason to throw EVERYTHING they will use through the dishwasher.

It really depends on where on the scale you fall from slob to clean freak - in the past people have admitted to bringing their own sheets. A slob like me doesn't care - but I'm also not worried about allergies or repressed immune systems.

Clorox wipes are probably the easiest thing to bring (and of course you'll need laundry detergent). If you want to bring spray cleaner, there are paper towels, but not rags.

Just wanted to add/ recommend Clorox Anywhere Hard Surface spray. Spray it on, leave it alone to dry. No odor and is a easy quick sanitizer. I use it everyday on my kids football pads/ helmets too.

We put dishes, flatware and glasses through the dishwasher. In the past we have found visibly dirty dishes and after years of staying in DVC units we found out that the Mousekeepers will sometimes hand rinse dishes just to move on to the next unit.

In the past we always seemed to come home with some kind of bug from WDW. It may be a mental thing but wiping down the unit and doing the dishes seems to have reduced that number of incidences.
