First time dress shopping: opinions appreciated!

I vote for #1, but as you can see from all of the responses it looks like everyone likes all of them :thumbsup2
You have some beautiful dresses to choose from!

4 or 6, I love them both. Truly you look great in all of them. The only one I don't like is 5. Wedding dress shopping isn't as much fun as I first thought either. Hope it gets better.

I like 4 or 5. I love the skirt on 5.

I also like the fit of #1 but I'm not sure of the bodice. You look beautiful in it, just my opinion of the dress.

They all look great on you, but my favorites are 3 & 4 with #3 being my absolute favorite.

I used to work at David's Bridal and if you are not happy with the consultant - speak to the manager and get another one. The consultant is there for you and to hear about you and your wedding. Good luck!

I've spent about four years in the bridal gown industry, and in my professional opinion, I like number 4 the best, followed by number 6. Number 1 is really fun, but it's also really trendy and may eventually look dated when you look at pictures in 10 or 20 years. But I loved the dropped waist and curved sweetheart neckline on you, they give you great shape! Also, the beading on number 4 is elegant and ornate without being over the top! Number 6 is gorgeous too because of the simplicity in the front, but I also really like the ornate train detail. But I definately think number 4 is the most romantic, elegant, and flattering! Good luck and congratulations! princess:

I really like #3 and #6. I really like #3...it's so classic. But honestly, you look great in all of them! :goodvibes

I felt the same way about the consultant I had when I went to DB last summer. Any chance you went to the one in Manchester? Mine talked about her wedding the ENTIRE time. And they put me in dresses I didn't like...like, bizarre dresses that they said no one would ever try on. Weird.

Oh my gosh! The Manchester David's is TERRIBLE! i didn't even end up looking at dresses there because I was so put off the day my MOH and I dropped by to browse the racks. Too funny.

Oh, and I really like #6... I think it's super flattering on you, your waist looks tiny! :thumbsup2 I like the top of dress #1, and in general I love pickups, but I think this dress has too many. The bottom takes away from the top.

I totally agree. It completely turned me off from ever going to a David's in the future...not even for BM dresses!

Love the Nemo shoes.

I pick #6, has a nice classic look and you look great in it. DD likes #1.

4 looks amazing. Very flattering on you. Second choice for me would be 6, mainly because I think the train is stunning. Good luck!!

Wow, thanks for all the comments!

I am not a dress/skirt person at all and when I was trying the dresses on I actually felt like "myself."

As for my favorites I loved #3 and #6. #4 was a little much for me, decoration and price-wise (I have a pretty limited budget). I did like it and felt like a princess but our wedding is a little more casual than that. The consultant got upset that my mom and sister wanted me to try a ball-gown on because she didn't think that was what I wanted. I tried to tell her that this was my first time trying dresses on and I didn't want to just try one style on. I just got such a bad vibe from her. She kept stepping away for some reason, it got very awkward. She was blabbering about "corporate controlling the A/C and it not being cool enough...having a heat rash...having to get some water....having bloodshot eyes from swimming that morning." I can't even tell you how much she went on and on.

That being said, #6 is a name brand dress that I can get elsewhere and I really liked it. I am at my heaviest and felt like I could wear that dress without losing any weight. woohoo!

I have a return appointment scheduled but I may just cancel it or reschedule it with another consultant (how do you approach the situation, esp. as I would not want to come in when she is working?).

I do plan on going to another bridal shop. Details to follow! Thanks again for all the wonderful comments, they are appreciated!

My favorites are 4, 5 and 6 :goodvibes.

Sorry your consultant was so terrible. I worked at David's Bridal when I was in college and always encouraged brides to try on different styles since you never know just looking at something on the hanger.

Here's the tricky part though...since they work on commission "stealing" someone's bride is a very touchy subject. So you definitely have to be careful how you go about it. You could call to make an appt and then ask for someone else instead and try to ask if she's working that day.

I agree # 6 is just beautiful!!!!
I also wanted to give my opinion on dress buying! I took my DDIL to Davids bridal and we were on a VERY limited budget!! Our consultant was ok and it was even her idea to check craigs list and ebay. We tried on dresses and found one my DDIL loved but could not afford. I then spent about a month checking ebay and craigs list and was able to find the exact dress she wanted brand new on ebay! The seller had bought it at Davids and then found another dress she liked better! I paid 75.00 including shipping for a $900.00 dress!!:banana::banana:
My DDIL was happy and had a wonderful wedding!!!!
so if you have time shop around!!
