First Time DAS for 3, Twins and Me

I'm very nervous about getting DAS for the first time for myself and my twins. They'll be almost 2.5 years old when we go to WDW at the end of January/Beginning of February. I've never asked about it before bc I couldn't stomach the idea of talking to someone at Guest Services and trying to "prove" my need. (Also bc I was late diagnosed, but that's another thing altogether.) Wellll, now I have twin toddlers and they have similar issues as I do when standing in lines- typically sensory things, like seeking, overload or like the sensation of when someone is just TOO CLOSE to me. I think we could get by with strollers as wheelchairs for them in a lot of cases.

Anyway, I'm looking at doing the advance DAS with the video chat bc that feels less anxiety provoking than in-person, but only a little less. I know they have to be present on the call to get it for the kids, but all that I've read about wait times makes me anxious that I'd finally get a person and my kids would be napping (they require A LOT more sleep than other kiddos their age).

I guess my question is- can I get DAS for all three of us in one call? Or should I just get it for myself? But if I just get it for myself, does that change our ability to get strollers as wheelchair tags? (My husband and mom are coming on this trip too- so it won't just be me and twin toddlers.)

This is all new territory for me and it's making me spiral about a trip that is still months away. (Hyperfocus on a vacation is usually a FUN thing for me, but this is so wildly different and it's making me so anxious.)

If any of you have advice, or you know, solidarity- I'd really appreciate it.

How likely is it that you and the twins will split to do different attractions? If that is a possibility, then you need multiple DAS. If that isn't a scenario you can imagine for your park days, then you really should be fine with just a DAS for yourself. You are still able to request stroller-as-wheelchair for the kids, which has to be requested in-person anyway.

Since they are 2.5, there are a few rides that they won't likely be able to ride that me and other people in our party would like to do, but now that you phrase it like that- we'd be fine with just one DAS for me. (Thank you. Sometimes it takes someone saying something slightly different for me to like GET IT.)

And thank you! That's helpful about the strollers as wheelchairs. I wasn't totally clear on how that whole thing worked and if it was linked to DAS or a totally separate process.

If they are only 2.5, they can't get DAS issued. Since they won't have a ticket, and that is what they use to register for a DAS. Get the DAS for yourself and add any other ticket holders in your party.

Okay. From what I had read elsewhere their DAS would just be linked with an adult's ticket in the party, but I can see where that would be weird since the kiddos don't require a ticket to get in.

Kids under 2 don’t need a ticket, but can still get DAS.
Even though they don’t need a ticket, they can still be listed/have a profile in My Disney Experience. DAS is attached to the profile, not the ticket.

In your situation, I agree it makes more sense to try to register for DAS for yourself. There will be rides that they can’t go on, but you might want to.

Ah. I am always thinking of Disneyland. No My Disney Experience here. Kids don't get "listed" anywhere.

You'll use Rider Swap for those anyway. If you also use DAS on those attractions, you (as the DAS holder) will need to be in "party 1" and scan first but one or two other adults can still receive a Rider Swap pass to ride as "party 2."

Since your twins are Young, ALL 3 of you will be together.
Splitting up and ride swap will not be a option.
You can't leave your Child alone that are alone. Can't ride alone either.

I will be taking my family to DL for the first time in March, and my middle son is a DAS user. Will I not be able to see and schedule DAS on the Disneyland app like I do at WDW? The two apps appear so similar, so I assumed it would work the same there as far as scheduling them from the app.

The DL app has the same functionality as the WDW My Disney Experience app according to the info on the DL DAS webpages.

yeah I don't intend to be argumentative but I'm confused what that other post is saying that it's not linked to profiles. We are not pass holders, but have gotten DAS multiple times this year for single day tickets. It stays active to the profile well after we've used our tickets. Once, for curiosity, I even went in to pretend to make a time and it showed everyone we had gone with as "linked" despite everyone having a single day ticket...

So, just to be 100%, do you see a scenario where your husband and/or mom would take one or both of the kids on a ride without you? If you're having a tough moment, would you potentially sit one out and send the four of them? Or, if twin A is on the struggle bus for the moment, would you hang back with them while Hubby took twin B to ride something?

If you see this as a possibility, the kids need to be registered, too. Otherwise, they won't have DAS privileges when you aren't riding.
