I had never used DAS, let alone preregistration for it. Here was my experience from today, Sunday, January 8th.

  • Started process at 9:48 am (central)
  • Got the “you’re next” message at 10:28 am
  • Video chat started at 10:38 am and was approved right away; whole video chat was less than 5 minutes
  • After that I went back to the chat and was able to get 2 out of 3 of my park days booked, I have to chat again tomorrow for the 3rd
  • 10:56 am the whole process was done
  • I was only timed out 2 times and was easier than I thought to get back in, just do what the prompt says and exit the pop up that says you’ve timed out
  • I got all my first choices for rides and my preferred time frame
Overall, I really had nothing to worry about. I was concerned leading up to it that I would not be approved and/or I’d be waiting hours to get ahold of someone. I’ll update tomorrow if I get my first choices for attractions or if I have to use my substitutes.

Update 1/9/23-
I did the chat today for my last park day. This time instead of telling them in the chat what I wanted they sent me a form to fill out. The form states that you can only make 3 days worth of preselections at a time. That’s different than yesterday, as I was only able to do 30 days from my park day (it was 29 days from my first day, 30 from my second). The chat took about 25 minutes and I was able to get 1 of my preferred attractions and had to use my substitute for the other. Also, I kept getting a banner on my screen telling me that my connection was lost and to retry. Overall, not bad, I did wish it went quicker, but I understand they have other people they talk to at the same time.

This is a copy of a post I made yesterday on the DAS Summary thread near the top of the board.

There are 3 different ways that the DAS Advance Selection process can be done. All 3 ways are still being done, so you could get any of the 3 ways. I’ve actually had all 3 ways during different times that I’ve registered my daughter. From what I’ve been told, which way it happens partly depends on how busy they are. It may also depend on your connection and how it’s working.
To prepare, have 2 choices and an alternate ready for each park day. List them in order of preference. You won’t be able to select exact time, but can ask for morning, afternoon or evening and CMs will try their best.

After completing video registration, the registration CM:
  1. ends the video and sends your text chat to the DAS Advance Selections queue, which usually has a short wait. The text chat with that CM continues in the same chat window. The CM asks you to type your park days and selections into the chat window. They may ask for one park day at a time, or ask you to type in multiple days at once. This is the way it operated when the video registration process started.
  2. ends the video and sends your text chat to the DAS Advance Selections queue, which usually has a short wait. The text chat with that CM continues in the same chat window. The CM asks to send a secure form in a new Popup window for you to type in your 2 top and one alternate selections for each park day. The form may be for 3 days or 7 days. After making your selections, the form is returned to that CM and you converse in text chat. This is probably the most common.
  3. continues on the same video chat to complete doing your DAS Advance Selections with you on the video. This was not happening at the start, is probably least common and only happens when it’s not busy.
The CM may come back to you with choices before making the final selection. They will ask you to verify what was scheduled and you will have a chance to make changes - but, be aware the original choice may be deleted and you may not get it back.

I also had a really good experience on Friday, January 6th. I logged on around 9:45am EST. Probably a 15-20 minute wait. Since I've had DAS before, they had my info, but asked me to state my reasons/needs again. Chat took less than five minutes. I got the form for my advance selections. Since I'm only going for three days and I'll also be solo, I got all my first choices and it didn't take long at all. I did get timed out right as I was submitting the form, so I had to fill it out and submit again. All in all, it was less than an hour.
