Hey Guys!! I'm getting married in October 2017... Not in Disney :( But! Fiance agreed to a Disney Honeymoon! :mickeyjum:goofy::donald:

We are going to do a 3 Night Bahamas Cruise October 20 2017 on the Disney Dream. Neither of us have been on a cruise before and I'm excited but also way over my head with planning!

Some questions I had were when should we book by?

Also, What part of the ship is the best? Front, Back, Midship and level of deck.

I'm thinking we will choose a verandah room because that just sounds amazing!

Feel free to pass on any other helpful tips too! Thanks guys!

(Oh we are also going to spend 4 nights in Disney World after, I'm a DVC member and own at VGF so that's where we will be! )

Thanks again! :earsboy::earsgirl::tigger:

mid-ship is generally considered the best location.....
book as soon as possible.........
there are myriad room reviews somewhere on these boards.........
oh, and by the way,
:welcome:

So fun!! My husband and I did the exact same honeymoon, except we went to WDW prior to the cruise. It was 10 years ago when we could book the land and sea package. Book the cruise as early as possible to get the best rates. I will say this....the balcony sounds great, but for only 3 nights, it might not be worth it. All depends on the cost difference. On the other hand, it's your honeymoon, so splurge for that balcony!

Plan on booking another cruise while on-board. You can always cancel it, but this at least ensures the on-board booking discount. :)

Hi!

We got married with the Disney Cruise line at Castaway Cay and even though we technically honeymooned at Disneyland we sort of had a "mini moon" with DCL. Here's what I think you should know:

Midship is probably best, because you aren't too far from anything. Book as soon as you can. It will ensure you get the best options for your stateroom, since you actually get to pick your room! Make sure to note on your reservation that it's your honeymoon! It's never a promise but you MAY get a few special surprises! Depending on which ship you're on, definitely book an advanced brunch or dinner reservation for Palo and/ or Remy. Very romantic, 18+ so it's a way to get away from kids for awhile, and well worth the price in my opinion! Maybe do a couple's spa treatment as well! Have fun!!!!

Thanks for the suggestion guys! I will definitely make my deposit soon! I was reading somewhere that some of the veranda's have solid walls so you have to stand up to see anything...I'm going to have to figure out which ones those are and avoid them!

I think I'm most excited about all the food! I have to look into some of the places more since my Fiance is sooo picky with his food lol He's a burger and fries guy and can't stand steak that isn't well done... (it kills me) But it will still be a blast trying new places!

I will definitely look into Palo or Remy!

Thanks again guys!

I did a Disney cruise for my honeymoon. It was great! In addition to the above suggestions, I also recommend that you make sure it is noted on your reservation that it is your honeymoon. Have fun planning and best wishes!

Congrats on getting married and celebrating it with your first Disney cruise! My wife and I went to WDW and cruised on the Big Red Boat for our honeymoon (before DCL existed). We got married 23 years ago this past Monday.

I believe you'll find some of the links in my signature useful for planning and general info. I've gathered these over the years and some information may be a bit dated.

If you get a room on the port or starboard side of the ship they'll have glass walls. The aft state rooms have the solid wall, but they're bigger balconies, so it's an ok trade off in my book.

We're doing our Honeymoon to Alaska the 1st of August, so I completely understand the stress of planning a wedding and DCL honeymoon. But luckily the DCL position is pretty easy once it's set, you can also look for a good TA to help you plan the honeymoon. The TA will take most of the stress off and set you up with a memorable trip.

We prefer staying towards the aft of the ship (starboard so we can see Castaway Cay when we're in the Caribbean or Bahamas). There's fewer kids running around towards the back of the ship since they family state rooms are farther forward. Plus the aft elevator bank is really close, so it's a quick trip to to the top deck for food or sodas.

Good luck planning.

Congrats!! I'm basically interested in all the same answers as well. My fiance and I are going to do the 4-night Bahamas cruise, leaving PC on March 20, followed by a few nights in Cocoa Beach and a few nights in Orlando. It'll be my first cruise and we're close to booking, but trying to get all the info!

I had to laugh at this. DH and I did the exact same honeymoon, 21 years ago last week. Happy Anniversary to you! :)

To the OP, Congratulations! Reading through these boards you will find lots of great info. I agree with what the others have said, book asap and mid ship is best (although not really necessary IMO). If you book through a Disney Specialist, such as Dreams Unlimited Travel (sponsors of these boards), not only will you get expert advice to walk you through every step of the planning process, but you will also get an on board credit which is free money to spend on your cruise.

You have a ton of time to plan. Getting started now will help ease with the wedding planning. Just remember to watch the "Little Souvenir" commercial and read up on other things people join on a cruise.

While we haven't been on a DCL cruise yet we have cruised numerous times including for our honeymoon. IMHO a 3 night cruise isn't worth it, heck even 7 days seems too short these days. Since it seems like you have the time to take I would highly recommend atleast a 5 day cruise. You will just feel like you are getting relaxed and the lay of the land when you have to get off. Cruising is like no other kind of vacation, it's hard to put into words but once you go on one you will figure it out, it's a total relaxation!

I understand that Disney does a lot more shorter cruises than most other lines, that lots of people combine WDW and a cruise to fill their vacation, and that DCL is more expensive than others. But all things considered I would either go for a week at WDW or min of a 5 day cruise.

Edited to add: just remember once you book a verandah you will never book anything less, believe me it's a blessing and a curse!

Just my 2 cents. Congratulations on the wedding, and I hope you guys have a fantastic honeymoon!

I posted these comments on another thread where some folks were cruising with the mouse for the first time...also a three-day cruise:
We have sailed with the mouse five times with 6&7 coming up this fall. I do not participate in the FE, however, I take a few kid-friendly items with me to add to the FEs down the hall...extra pixie dust, perhaps. Don't over plan this cruise. Two things to consider, since this is a very short cruise (shortest one for us has been seven days):
1. Take a tour of the ship with a CM or on your own. It is fun to look for hidden Mickeys and discover the unique imagineering Disney has created.
2. Let your daily Navigators help plan your day. I would book only one major activity a day in advance, if that. You will find a number of things to do, for adults, that pop us each day that are really cool. Be flexible and, as the knight told Indiana Jones, "choose wisely."
I am the crazed grandfather, according to my grandkids (and my wife), who loves doing daily door decorations. Perhaps you could look now into this means of expression to find your inner Mickey and to help you find your stateroom later on the ship.
In any case, your cruise will be unique and fun...you'll want more!!
We have been married 52 years, so our cruises with Mickey are far from honeymoons...but they feel like it. We have done one without relatives and kids on board and the ones in Sept. are also kidless. Remember to take time to enjoy each other and let the Mouse just happen. Best of luck to you both!
