I read that you need to take a carry on bag with you when you board the ship because your luggage might not get to your room in time for dinner. We are driving our car and will not use Disney's transporation. Can we take our luggage with us when we board? I know this is a stupid question, but we have never been on a cruise before. Thank you in advance for your help.:D

Hi vols001 and welcome to the Cruise Board!

You don't need to worry about bringing clothes for dinner in a carry-on, the vast majority of the time the bags get to your room in plenty of time and if they don't it's fine to go casual to dinner the first night, DCL even says so.

You definitely need to drop your bags with the porter at the curb, the only carry-ons you can bring have to fit through an airport-style x-ray machine.

Enjoy your cruise! :)

Just bumping this since the reply didn't show up as posted originally. :)

I have a suggestion for your daybag:
If you like to use the pools and whirlpools, be sure to bring some swimwear on board with you. The time before the safety drill is one of the quietest and most pleasant times to use the pools. It's also a lot of fun to watch people walking around and passing by as they explore the ship. It is a game with me to count how many dip into the pool to test the water temp. as they pass by.

Carry the least amount of luggage thta you can onboard. We made a MISTAKE the first time and took as much on as we could carry on. Won't do that again!
