First time cruiser. HELP! 🙃

My family of 8 is planning our first cruise on the “Fantasy” in January and I have questions. We plan to to stay overnight on DVC points the night before our trip at AKL. How do you recommend we get to Port Canaveral from AKL and the from Port Canaveral back to MCO after our cruise? Thank you in advance for all your suggestions.

For a party that size, I would recommend hiring a private transfer. You’ll save money in the long run over using DCL buses.

We have used both Happy Limo and FL Tours for port/airport transportation and been very happy.

If you sign up for DCL transfers, while you might get on the ship faster, they will charge you per person. So your cheapest option might be an uber or a rental car/van. The advantage of the rental is that you are on your own timetable. There are rental agencies where you can drop your family/luggage off at the port and then the driver (with all their necessary port docs) drops the car off and takes a shuttle back to the port. In reverse, the rental car allows you to stop off at Disney Springs to hang out if your flight home is later in the day.

Kind of depends on what your budget is and what works for you.

The DCL buses will be pretty expensive for 8 people, but for me, the convenience is worth it. You don't have to worry about checking in at midnight to get the best port arrival times, or even worry about port arrival times at all. Disney handles the logistics, so you just have to wait for the bus. You don't have to worry about whether your ride will arrive on time or whether you'll get a good driver who doesn't play obnoxious music or anything like that. And, you get to watch some fun Disney cartoons and do trivia and stuff on the bus.
