Hello!
I just stumbled on this board, and thought I would get advice from the experts.
We'll be heading out to Disney on Saturday from Oklahoma (Long Drive) with our pop-up. This is our 2nd time at disney, and our 1st time camping there. What pointers can ya'll give me to make this trip even more enjoyable than I anticipate?

Here are some things that we do.:goodvibes
1. Transportation - we take the boat to Magic Kingdom and drive our vehicle to the other parks, so we're not waiting on busses.
2. Campground - Fort Wilderness is huge and you can't drive around inside the campground (you can drive when you leave the campground and when you return). Take bikes for a cheap, easy way to get around the fort or (if you can afford it) rent a golf cart. Bugs aren't too bad, but some insect repellant is good to have, especially this time of the year.
3. Doing Disney - Go to the parks in the morning and evening. The heat and humidity is oppressive in the afternoon, so plan for some down time (or pool time) during the hottest part of the day. And remember to take a small first aid kit in your bag/purse/etc. to the park with band-aids, wipes, and pain reliever.
4. Planning for the next trip - Take time to explore the fort and find out what loops you really like so you can request the loop of your choice for your next visit.:thumbsup2

Happy Camping!

Make sure you take a day to just enjoy the campground, you'll find it to be one of the best in the country.

The campfire program is not to be missed and the Electric Water Parade too! You can watch Magic Kingdom fireworks from the FW beach.

Listen to the teacher as I would agree with them 100% very good advice.

We'll be arriving on Sunday, about 6pm or so. We requested loop 1500 since it looked a little more centrally located, we'll see.

we have camped in the 1500 loop. I liked it. The location is great for the pool. You can walk with no problems. You will hear buses but I imagine you can almost anywhere in the campground. Have a wonderful time. :goodvibes

Warning...Warning...Warning

Once you have stayed at FW you will never be totally satisfied with any other campground!

:yay:

Is there any WiFi access in FW? Since we're in a pop-up (8ft Jayco, 4 people, Lord have mercy on us) we went for a site with just water and electricity, but it would be nice to keep up with email.

Thanks again! ya'll are a bunch of help and I wish I had found you earlier!

How true this must be, because while we have never camped at the FT. we have been there and looked because we knew we would camp there one day and ever since we went we have compared all other campgrounds to it. There is nothing like it. It is just so nice compared to anything else we have ever been to. But hey it is Disney..I mean what do you expect??:goodvibes

No wifi, but there are internet hookups somewhere.

My favorite loop is 1500, specifically 1503. It is a short walk to the pool and the bus stop. I also like that it is a small loop.

Happy Camping!

There is High Speed Internet at FW but you need a preferred site. There currently is no WiFi at FW but there is a Internet lounge (?) by the Outpost that has dialup hookups if you have a local phone number for your ISP.

Contraire my goofy friend. There is Wi-Fi now at the Meadows and Settlement. I've seen people using both locations. You still have to pay $9.95 a day though for access. I have a Sprint Card and it's great. Hopefully one day WDW will just put in wireless for all to use.
