This is the first time my family and I are planning an August vac...always go in July. Everyone keeps saying August is worst...Has anyone ever been to WDW in Aug? My magical Days begin Aug 6

If you go towards the end of August when the kids are back in school.....the crowds will be down.

we always go the last 2 weeks of Aug. The criwds aren't that bad.
Last year Soarin' had the longest wait of all attractions. Probably because it was new. We didn't use the fastpass much.
It's just the heat is horrible!

We always go in August. Its is very hot, but not much hotter than June or July. The crowds are much less b/c most of America is in school. We usually walk on most rides, in my expierence except for the most popular ones. I would love to start going in October or November, but this is the way My Fiances family has been doing it for years. Either way you will still have agreat time.

Very Very HOT , so hit the water parks. Any time is a good time for Disney

yes it will be hot and if you go the beginning of August there will be crowds, end of August there are less crowds.
Just get into the parks at opening take an afternoon break at your hotel pool and go to a nice airconditioned restaurant for dinner and back to the parks at night when it is not as not. Or go to typhoon lagoon or blizzard beach-you will love it. You will have a fantastic time.

August can be hot but the crowd size can be down. We were there last year during the second week of Aug and we had significantly smaller crowds than I expected.

I'll second every ones opinion. My family & I always go the last week in August. This year we're planning on 8/24-9/1. It's always blistering hot but the crowds are so much less than in full summer. Once in a while we may have a wait of more than 35 mins for the rides. Also since the parks are still open fairly late (some times to 10 pm) we do hit the water parks or our pool for the hottest part of the day and still have plenty of time to do the theme parks in the evening.

Go for it.

How bad is week #2 ?

In 2004 we went the third week of August and I surprised at how low the crowds were during the week, but on the week-ends the crowds increase because the kids in Florida go back to school like the second week of August so that explained everything. The MK is one of the worst on week-ends. The weather was hot but because the lines weren't too bad, etc. we didn't mind. The parks usually close earlier in August and we never used the EMH (Extra Magic Hours). We had a great time and during the hottest part of the day we often returned to our room and relaxed and swam, etc.

The last 3 summers we did one each - June, July, and August. We loved all three of the trips and from our point of view we did not see a big difference in the crowds or weather (was hot for all 3!) Have a wonderful trip!
