My family and I will be staying at Fort Widerness for the first time in less than 2 weeks! Any TIPS or advice would be appreciated to make our stay more MAGICAL!!

Title indicates Wilderness Lodge, but post says Ft. Wilderness:eek:

Have stayed at both, although very different both are great places to stay. I can give you more info if you let me know which one it is.

I am looking for similiar info...

We arrive next Thursday.

1. What should we request, if anything (we are booked for memorial day weekend with standard view on a code)?
2. When should we fax it in? Thursday is kind of a different check-in day.

I'm checking in Memorial weekend too (Eeyore - wear your lime green ribbon or badge!) so I'd love to see the answer to this thread as well.

but I helped plan a trip for a dear friend last year... here are some highlights...

As soon as you check in- see if there is availability to be "Flag Family" for the day- they won't let you sign up before you arrive- but if there's a spot available you and your family will walk up to raise the flag and receive a certificate and learn cool things about the WL.

Eat at Whispering Canyon- fun antics for the children.

Check out the otters.

Find the hidden mickeys.

Go to Hoop-de-do Review if you can swing it- it's around Fort Wilderness and a fun show not to be missed -so they say- we're going in September so I'll let you know then! :) Doesn't help you now, though....

And definitely read through the 500 or so posts under Wilderness Lodge- FAQ- lots of goodies there!! And lots of good room request suggestions.

Take Ranger Stan's tour of the lodge if it is available when you are there. It is given on some days of the week and takes about 45 minutes. He is a delightful person.

We stayed at the WL in Feb 03. Somethings not mentioned our whole family really enjoyed (me, dh, ds 8, ds 7, dd 2) was renting bikes and riding on the path between WL and Fort Wilderness...we did this twice we enjoyed it so much. We also loved sitting in the hottub and watching the fireworks from MK and the geyser. Have a great trip!

Upon checking in, ask how much to upgrade to concierge. Sometimes they will upgrade you for just $35 a night!
