:cool1: We leave Wed. and this will be our first time staying at the WL. We will just be having a standard view. However, is there one room or level that is better to stay on than an other? Any other tips and hints would be greatly appreciated!

By the way---we are traveling with kids, any hints on that as well?

Thanks everyone!

Since you're leaving so soon, it's almost too late to make your requests, now. With children, you may want to ask for bunkbeds (although I'm not sure standards have bunkbeds). Since it's still value season, you may be upgraded so you could ask at check-in. Some standards have good views of the MK fireworks. Also, ask for a fridge if you don't have one in your room. Finally, I'd ask for something close to the Roaring Forks (counter service with the mug refilling station).

We love WL, have a great trip!

I just booked my 1st stay at WL standard room too, and was about to ask the same thing. I'm not expecting an upgrade, especially since it will be summertime, but what are the better standard rooms to request?
Thanks!

While we've stayed at WL, we've never had a standard. I have a standard ressie for our trip in Dec, so I've done some research into it. Here's the link for WL FAQ. They have more info than you can ever digest in a weekend. There's good stuff on the first page about different rooms. For our trip, I think we'll ask for a lobby room. The view is looking out over the roof peaks which, for us, would be better than the service area. However, I've heard there's some great Castle views (at least great for WL) from the sixth floor on the North side. MAGICinMYHEART regularly answers questions on the FAQ thread, and she's very knowledgeable and helpful.

Have a great trip and good luck with those upgrades.

DW and I have stayed at WL 9 times. Obviously we love it. We have been upgraded once and after the fact I can say from a view standpoint we would have been better off with standard view. Just ask for a room on the north side and as high up as possible. You should have a nice view of the fireworks at MK. The woods view we had last time was very convienient, right by the pool and very close to the lobby but the view was of a bush and the side of WLV. As I have said here many times, if you don't like WL go see your physician because there is something seriously wrong with you.

I just started purusing the WL FAQ page, it's alot to take in! lol!
Your advice was very helpful, I'll add my requests to the ressie and hope for some pixie dust! :wizard:

WL ROCKS! Hopefully you will be upgraded...I always am, but I always travel in the slow times of year. This last time we had room 5041 that looked straight out to the pool and to the lake,. we sat on our balcony and watched the electric parade at night. It was great.

You will love WL. I think it is the greatest WDW resort!

We have friends staying in a standard room while we'll be at the Villas. When do upgrades get offered?

Jennytennis and laurabelle,
:teeth: You will love the WL! We have stayed there twice and absolutely love it. We have also stayed at the Contemporary, CB, Poly, and GF and love the WL the best. Even if you have a standard room you can go to the beach or out on the large balcony from the lobby to watch the electric water parade at night for a great view. You will have a great time! I hope you have a wonderful vacation! :wave2:

Jennytennis,

I'll be looking forward to a review when you return! :earsgirl:

I just switched us over to WL after much discussion with the husband. I already had a MYW package + dining booked thru AAA, and the only discount they showed was a wooded view, so we'll see what we end up with. I still have many months before our trip though!

Hope you have a great time!

We stayed at WL in 2003. We paid for a standard room but requested a room with a view of the fireworks if one was available because we had small kids and wouldn't be able to stay in the parks for fireworks. When we checked in, we got the woods view room - which was an upgrade from standard - and we didn't have to pay for it. We went in October and crowds weren't big. We were on the 5th floor and had a fabulous nighttime view of the fireworks. I think if you're on he 5th or 6th floor you can see them.

It can't hurt to ask when you check in.
