I am so excited to finally have another DVC vacation on the calendar. I am taking my three year old twins and our neighbor and her two year old for a four night stay at SSR in October. What do I need to know about that resort that might be hlepful? We are staying in a two bedroom villa and plan on cooking for some meals. Any suggestions, ideas, comments welcome!!

Well we always request the grandstand and close to transportation.. the grandstand is the first drop off and pick up for bus .. its within walking distance to the main building. The pool at the grandstand has a water sprinkler area for kids but grandstand pool doesn't have zero entry or slide .. the main pool has a zero entry and a slide.. and its where they do the kids stuff.. (see your welcome package for what is going on each day).. there is a movie at the main pool as well. We like to cook out on the grills provided.. right by the pool. If you are a dvc member then movie rentals are free as well as wifi..

Of course you know that SSR is close to DTD..

We were just there last week and they are upgrading to flat screen tv's.. which is a plus..

I'm not sure when the paddock's new pool is going to be done (pretty sure its fall).. but you if its open when you are there.. it maybe nice to stay in that area.. although I dont think that is close to the main building.

If there is specific's you want.. please ask and I will try to answer. and most importantly.. ENJOY!!!! :)

Actually there is no WIFI at SSR, there is free internet but it is wired not WIFI.

I love the Congress Park area, great views, a very nice pool and close to Downtown Disney.

The new pool at Paddocks opens in early July. The Paddocks is close to the main building, just over the bridge.

We were in Grandstand our last trip and were in the furthest building out, not a great view and a walk to the pool and bus stop.

Keep in mind that SSR is more of a golf resort than a hotel resort, so everything is not inside and right around the corner. If you have that in mind your stay will go much better. Times to get to busses, pools and the such are actually about the same (sometimes faster) than some of the Hotel resorts, but because you are not inside it just has a different feel to it.

Grandstand is a great location, especially with small children and strollers, as the PP mentioned. With the new paddocks pool opening up, really the least desirable areas are not bad at all (Carousel, will actually have a CS and theme'd pool nearby).

We just got back with our 3 year old and 1 year old. We stayed in a 2 BR Villa in the Springs. Literally right across the street from the pool, main building and transportation. I couldn't have imagined having a better room. Not a close walk to DTD but the boat was just on the other side of the main building. We loved this location.

Yes, yes, and yes! The resort itself is absolutely beautiful, but it is so enormous! We stayed in the Springs on the far side, and even though it is "near" the main pool and hub of things, it was still quite a hike to get to it from where our room was located. I agree to be near the transportation center if you're not driving yourself. It was hot (we went in August) and the walk was about 7-9 minutes to get to the bus, which would be crowded because we were the last stop. I don't mind walking, but it felt like forever after coming back/enroute to the parks in the summer heat. However if you are driving yourself then that problem would be solved! Other than that, it was a wonderful vacation and the resort itself if just gorgeous. Our kids liked to take the boat over to DTD. We loved our room! :goodvibes Our home resort is Kidani, but I'd go back to SSR again.
