After much thought and your input, we have chosen to stay at Port Orleans Riverside.
As this is our first time at this resort, we are torn between Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend.
Please give us some input as to which area is preferable.
As always....thanks to everyone for the input. It is always helpful.

We haven't stayed in the mansions but have stayed several times in Alligator Bayou. I like the theming of feeling like you are in the woods. Also the fact it is only two stories in those buildings.

For the AB section building 14 is the best, very close to everything.

For the mansions I think Magnolia Terrace is the best location, close to the main pool and a short walk to the lobby/food court.

Have a great trip!!

From the first time I started planning my first trip to WDW in 96 I have debated about the Dixie Landings / Port Orleans Riverside architecture. I am not much into the architectural style of the mansion homes. They are pretty but it is just not exciting. I am more into casual or rustid themes not the mor formal elegant feeling places. We stayed in Alligator Bayou and I really liked it with the wandering paths, forest and it seemed quiet and secluded. In the interim years I have stayed at 2/3 of the Disney resorts and have enjoyed all of them so this year I thought I would try POR again and I requested the mansion section because it would be new to me and I did think it would be nice enough. I loved being in the Mansions. They have a more definate feel of time and place. The Aliigator section is great but not run down or rustic enough to support its theme! :) The mansions make you feel like you are the guest at a large estate house and the interior decore , while a bit formal is not to elegant. Both sections od POR are very nice though very different feeling. Either would be good and access to the main area and pool is good though some of the Bayou homes are very close to the food court.

We just got back from our stay @ POR 6-10th. We requested building #27 and a corner room, everyone seem to request building #14 &15. At check-in they put us in building #26, I guess nothing was availabe in 27. After reading on these boards I thought the walk would be a haul, it wasn't. If your in #14 & 15, you are close to everything, too close for me. I'm glad we were in #26 it gave us a chance to walk the grounds and the walk was under 5 minutes to the dining hall.
