First time at Pop - guess what was on bathroom floor?

Hi there everyone....

We are back, and we thought the Pop was great, it is really big though, that's for sure, and so it was a little trek to the food court and pool from the 90's building. We immediately just dropped our bags inside and left for the parks.

We arrived home at about 8 p.m., and of course the first thing everyone wanted to do was use the rest room and then I was planning on giving the kids a shower. Well, my son (6) called out to me, "Mom, what is on the floor?"

I walked in and was mortified! There was pubic hair, probably a good 10-12 of them all over the floor in the bathroom...it was even in the shower! I immediately called housekeeping and told them that I refused to use the rest room until it was all cleaned up. And that there was no way we were going to shower until it was cleaned in there. I also told the front desk to make a note of the problem.

They finally arrived about an hour and a half later...and by then the kids were asleep, so I would have to shower them in the morning. After housekeeping left, my husband and I went in there looking around and she hadn't even gotten it all! My husband being the individual who hates problems and confrontations, took a cloth, picked it up and tossed it in the trash.

I know that things like that are bound to happen on a person's visit, but isn't it housekeeping's job to clean all that after each person's visit? Do they not even bother to sweep and wash the floor? I am planning on bringing bathroom sanitizers with me next time I go!

AND...to make matters worse...the tube of peppermint foot lotion I brought and was a Godsend the first couple of days...disappeared. I pulled everything apart looking for it (because my feet were killing me), and it was nowhere to be found. Looked behind things, under things - all over. Where it disappeared to, I don't know. And we have completely unpacked and it is nowhere.

So, do you think I should write a letter to the Pop, or would it be a waste of time because I am one person out of the millions they have visiting?

Besides all that, the trip was great....it was what we all needed as a family...it was excellent. And now we are looking forward to going back.

Sorry I can't offer any advice, I just wanted to let you know how sorry I feel for you. That is just not right. And to have to wait that long for someone to come and clean the bathroom, that is just wrong.

First of all the room should be clean and the bathroom should be swept and mopped to kill the germs. This is a given. As far as your lotion missing, I do not trust housekeeping. I know it is Disney, but it is the real world there. I have heard of people's medicines missing and they think it is guest just passing by the room and stealing it. While that can happen, I think it would be obvious to see a guest going in and out of open rooms while they are being cleaned looking for controlled drugs.Pluse you would have to be very lucky to find anything. It is way too easy to get caught. Those drugs are valuable on the street and I think it is housekeeping stealing them for themselves or to sell. Since Disney isn't responsible for things stolen in your room, housekeeping knows that, and they can get away with it. I know if they get enough complaints from a certain housekeeper they will question it. But Disney hires a lot of housekeepers and there would be one thief to replace the one fired. If I wanted to steal drugs, being a housekeeper would be a great way to do it. I know there are honest housekeepers their and I am not talking about them. Just hide your valuables. Just think, you don't allow strangers to come into your house at anytime to clean, well that is what it is when you stay at a hotel . It is hard to trust people now days.

We just came back from Pop and I am SO thankful that our room was clean! I did have the Clorox wipes, just in case.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience! I would probably write a letter about the hair on the floor because that really is an issue. I don't know what you could really say about the lotion. It seems like an odd thing for someone to steal, but you never know!! We made it back home with all of our peppermint foot products.

We were in the 70's section, and I have to tell you we thought the 90's buildings looked FAR. I thought that every day when we would get on the bus for the parks.

Let us know what you hear from Pop. It does seem like there have been an increasing number of complaints about dirty rooms, so hopefully they will address it!

Im sorry to hear about your problems at pop century. Ive always been happy with the cleanliness of the rooms perhaps you was just unlucky, but why not write and tell them your problems anyway so hopefully thay stop it happening again.

What you described is unacceptable. I know it is too late now, but if you are ever that dissatisfied with the room again I would remember this incident and insist that if a mousekeeper could not arrive to clean the room right away then you need a new room ASAP. That is disgusting and unsanitary, and I know I wouldn't go in or shower in there, let alone allow my kids to, before it was cleaned.

I know there are all sorts of germs all over the world, everywhere we go, but to actually see all those hairs proves that no one cleaned that bathroom.

No matter what level of resort you are staying at, you paid for and deserve a cleaned room. I would most definitely fire off a letter explaining exactly what happened. I am sure you will receive a call from WDW offices apologizing.

Small comfort, but the people with the power to change things can not begin to change acceptable standards unless they are told what is going on.

I have flashbacks of that 20/20, 60 minutes or whatever the show was about the disgusting things found in hotel rooms. I skeeve just walking into one and I don't take for granted that it's clean even if it looks clean.

The #1 worst thing found in a hotel room according to that show?? The REMOTE CONTROL.

Sorry you had such a rough time---been there, done that and it certainly does ruin a vacation.

Write the letter--and hopefully other people will write when they have problems also. If you did YOUR job half rear-ended, would your boss say it was ok? The housekeepers that cut corners need to be talked to. There's just no excuse for noticeable dirt.

The worst thing we've found - although amusing - was at an Embassy Suites hotel. The room and bathroom was very clean but while in the bathroom my little one was in there with me (he was not yet walking but scooting on the floor) and he scooted under the vanity and pulled out a Penthouse magazine that someone had stuck up under there - the latest issue! He was too little to know what it was and at first I was horrified and then thought it was funny. I guess I can't expect housekeeping to check up under the vanity like that everytime.

I"m sure I don't want to know the answer to this but my first thought is how do you know what type of hair it is on the bathroom floor? Not that there should be hair there anyway....

I know that they had a safe at All Star Music. I think all Disney's hotels have them but I am not 100% because I haven't stayed at all of them yet!

we are staying at pop in march for 2 weeks i can only say i hope its clean if it isnt i shall complain and get a clean room you expect a certain level of cleanliness after all we pay for it glad you enjoyed your stay

I know the level of cleanliness can vary at any of the resorts, but even staying at a value the room should be cleaned thoroughly between guests. Value resorts refer to the room size and amenities offered, not the cleanliness of the rooms!

Each time we check into a hotel, I go to the room before the first piece of luggage is removed from the car and check it out. In the past, I have been checking to see if the room is smoky smelling as my family has allergies to smoke. You can be assured I will be checking bathrooms, beds, etc., from now on!

As far as the nasty remote controls (which are the germiest things in the room)...you can place it in a ziploc bag and use it that way. Then the only germs you are dealing with are yours. Easier than trying to wipe one down completely!

In response to the question about how I knew what kind of hair it was...(this is pretty funny) when I told my son it was hair, he said "Mommy- why is it so squiggly?" It was quite obvious that it was pubic hair. Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl!

I think that guest relations needs to know about the problem. After all, how will they know that the is an issue to be addressed if you do not inform them? I'd write the letter, if nothing else, for your peace of mind.

Thank you sooooo much for the idea about the remote control. I will definitely bring a baggie to put it in. I love that tip! I am always so grossed out cleaning and using the remotes. I feel so good about this. Thank you.

As for the poster, that is disgusting you must have been so grossed out! Unacceptable waiting an hour and a half waiting to go to bed and have your room cleaned. sorry that this happened to you and I'm glad that you didn't let it interfere with your fun.

I know first hand that they do, indeed, read the letters that come in (both good and bad) because I've gotten personal phone calls regarding letters that I have written in the past. I think that guest relations needs to know about the problem. After all, how will they know that the is an issue to be addressed if you do not inform them? I'd write the letter, if nothing else, for your peace of mind.

I'm glad to read that somone has recived a personal response to such a letter because our bathroom at POP was much worse (feces & dried urine on the toilet) and all I've received is an auto reply. I did contact housekeeping and the front desk pronto. Manager came up and offered to have the room cleaned. Never felt that room was really clean. Have been reading more of the same kind of housekeeping complaints at POP . Now more hesitant to return.

I know the place is large and probably with a constant turnover, but as one poster wrote, value does not mean standard of cleanliness, but size of room and amenities!

Hmm...found a similar one stuck in a phone book in a hotel room. My, oh my!!! I have heard people who often "tuck in" their sheets just for good measure many times find such "treasure" stuck between the mattress and the box springs. Ewwww!!!! I didn't really want to sleep in the bed that night!!
