first time at OKW questions

We planned a last minute trip to WDW July 30 and could only get a 2 bedroom at OKW. We have never stayed there. What are the pros and cons? It is so far removed from everything I'm concerned. Do they have basketballs, etc and do you pay to use them? What kind of activities are there for kids? What is the menu at Olivia's like? Do they have any charcter meals.
I'd appreciate any and all info. Thanks.

We stayed at OKW back in Mar. 1st time. It is a wonderful resort. Very laid back but with lots of activities for all. I know there is a Bball court near the hopitality house cause I saw fellas playing there. Several pools. Water mouse boats.

Best I remember, there are lots of daily activities for kids that are layed out during your stay. I think that info is provided when you check-in. Only con I saw was the transportation to DD was slow whether by boat or bus. But I think that is true in all the resorts.

We ate at Olivias once for breakfast and it was very good. We will definitely eat there again.

I think you will enjoy it once you get settled in. BTW, are you going to the parks or is this a resort only visit?

We will probably go to some parks, but since we go a few times a year, just do favorites and go to Epcot for dinner, etc. I believe my 8 yr old wants to go to Blizzard Beach also. Glad to hear you liked it. My son always enjoys the activities and crafts at BW community hall. Is it similar to that?

Character breakfasts at Olivia's were discontinued a few years ago. They were not extremely popular. (Personally, I was not sad to see them go, Olivia's has a wonderful breakfast menu, but the Character meal was very limited.)

There is a basketball court, I would expect the basketballs would be free for members from Hank's Rent & Return. Shuffleboard at the main pool & Turtle Pond pool. There are tennis courts, surrey bikes and boats. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the overall resort atmosphere is very relaxed.
