First time at Gay Days

Its going to be our first time too - have learned loads from the different posts and especially the GayDays 2011 thread.

Still a lil bit scared of just turning up at an event - I spose its our innate british reservedness (is that even a word!?!) but cant wait to be in the park with all those red Tshirts!!

There seem to be a lot of us in that boat! This will be my first trip since 1997, and hoping to meet some of you. The bears are doing 'Ohana at 5, but will try to make it by the Dole Whip stand long enough to say hello at least.

It is my Hubs' and my first ever WDW and Gay Days trip for that matter. We are both excited AND scared!!
In other news we arrive at WDW in 60 sleeps time!!!
Coming from Australia - calling into NYC first to catch some shows!!!

Enjoy your time there. The sea of red shirts can be enormous....we told our friends (via text message) to find us in Tomorrowland...told them to look for red shirts...

Don't forget that the bears also do the Country Bear Jamboree at 1pm...they are usually there a bit early...

although I am not new to gay days, this is the first year I am doing more than just going and being in the sea of red shirts. dole whip stand here i come!

Your first trip ever or just first trip to WDW?

My biggest suggestion is take the time to slow down and observe. Enjoy yourself and live in the moment. I don't know how many people have come back from their first trip and they were so bent on getting to everything and keeping to schedule that they were so worn out when they got home and didn't take the time to enjoy themselves as they were so focused on where to be next.

Oh and bring comfortable shoes! Make certain they are not brand new as you'll be putting on the kilometers on your feet, you want to make certain your shoes are comfortable.

And double-oh -- don't wear jeans or anything heavy like that on the rapids

My advice:

1. Wear your red shirt with pride but leave off the cutesy, quippy, shocking and/or double entendre expression.
2. Attend the Country Bear Jamboree at 1 pm even if you don't have a hairy body with a shaved head.

Hmm...why do so many hairy bears swear they wouldn't shave a single hair off their body but then make an exception for their scalp? What's up with that? Are they selective about their hairiness?
