I am in the process of renting DVC points to use at Beach Club Villa studio for January. *crossing my fingers it all goes to plan* I am just wondering how different it is staying at the DVC compared to a regular resort. I know the studio has a kitchenette and that house keeping is every fourth day. Is there anything else different I should know about? Even if it is little I want to know! I am so excited I could scream! Also if I am at the villa can I still swim at Stormalong Bay? That is one of the big selling points for me so I really hope that we can. Anything else you want to add to make me excited feel free :rotfl: Thanks everyone!!!

You still get emh and you can use stormalong bay

One day four you don't get housekeeping, you get "trash and towel". They swap your towels and take out your trash. If your room needs to be vaccuumed, you'll find a vaccuum in the closet and you do it yourself,

You'll have a queen bed and a full pullout.

Check in is "after four". Some times that means you get into your room when you check in at eight am, sometimes that means that you get into your room at seven pm. Checkout is eleven.

I am sure that you will get plenty of posts providing you with some answers but I don't understand why renters don't get their info from the owners that you are renting from? I feel that it's my responsibility to answer questions and help my renters plan their vacations.

It's because the DIS is discussion forum where we have lots of participants happy top provide assistance to others with a variety of questions about Disney and DVC. There are times when responses to questions like this can and will be answered quickly and with more information that when posed to one individual.

It certainly can't hurt to get a variety of responses.

Housekeeping services are provided every four days. On stays less than 8 days, there will be Trash/Towel service on Day 4 (replace towels, remove trash). On stays of 8 days or more there would be a full cleaning on Day 4 and a Trash/Towel on day 8. Count arrival day as Day 1.

Have a great stay and if you have any more questions about the resort, please ask. Most here are happy to help! :)

A slight correction to this. If you stay seven nights or less (eight days or less) you get trash and towel service on day four. If you stay eight night or more (nine days or more), you get a full cleaning on day four and trash and towel service on day 8.

Hello, maybe you'll get the bug to be a DVC owner at some point! The studios are nice, but the 1 bedrooms and bigger are highly addictive. We originally joined DVC based on using a studio on my parents points. However after staying in a 1 bedroom it was hard to go back, though we do from time to time because the studios are less points and, like I said, still nice.

One of the other things you get used to is not having housekeeping everyday. At first it's like OMG, but you realize you don't have to pre-pick up every day, though you still want to put valuables away, it's kind of nice. I fact at normal hotels I now leave the DnD sign out. Who really wants someone else going through their room every day. All they do is make the bed just in time for you to get back and mess it up again. Lol.

For BCV coming back from Epcot, there's a gate on the right along the main path after you come over the bridge where the path to BW connects. That little gate takes you around the edges of BC to BCV. It's a little quicker than going through BC to get home from Epcot. Obviously, it can be used to go to Epcot but it's easier to describe where it is coming home.

you pretty much get full Disney privileges with DVC, room charge, EMH, buses, etc. only thing you can't get is free dining plan, but often you end up paying more for the room to get free dining plan anyway.

Last while most people don't cook in the kitchenette ( though some bring a crockpot, etc.) it's great for keeping milk, snacks, breakfast items, etc. we generally use late EMH. So we get up late and don't have a lot of time to spend at breakfast so having cereal, donuts, and stuff in the room is nice.

Hope you enjoy the trip. We liked DVC enough to become members about 9 years ago!

Thanks for the replies everyone! They are really appreciated! Do they ever upgrade DVC rooms? Like is there a possibility that we would get a one bedroom upon check in?

Doubtful. For a week in January it "costs" 107 points for a studio and 197 points for a 1 bedroom.

I have never heard of them upgrading DVC. Don't let the 1BR hype take the wind out of your sale. Regardless, this trip you're going to be in DVC and I'm sure you will enjoy it.

I suggest going and enjoying the studio. Being at the Beach Club im sure at some point you will take a walk over to the Boardwalk and check it out. There are a couple of DVC model rooms there that you can check out so you can see what a 1BR villa is. Just be warned you are walking into the lions den and it seems as years go on Cast Members are pushing more and more for DVC. I know it is their job, but it is getting to the point of carnival barking (I know I exaggerate).

Anyway, if you are even considering a DVC purchase I suggest you do your research here first. There is a ton of info in the DVC section of the board and you're better off going in knowing what they're talking about. Also check out the resale options if you only ever plan to stay on Disney property.

And again, keep in mind it is only a room. You're in a great resort in the best area of Disney IMO. You will enjoy it regardless!

Usually upgrades only happen with cash nights or if the villa you were supposed to stay in is taken out of service because of maintenance or other problems and they have no other in that same category to give you. But they might even move you to another resort in the same size villa, so no real upgrade. If you inquire about one, they will charge the member's account for the extra points. Then you have a real ticked off member if you aren't the owner of that account.
