Hi all,

We're from New Hampshire and have only been to WDW. However for April vacation in 2011 we are planning a California trip. Our dates in Cali are 4/11-4/30. We plan on doing 3 nights in DL. Based on our dates and it being Easter, would you recommend DL at the start of our trip or at the end of our trip?

The rest of our trip would be in San Diego.

From reading here it seems HoJo is the way to go for off site? Any other tips??

Thanks

IMO, the end would be better. The beginning you are smack in the middle of Spring break for many school districts in this area...by the end, most will be back in school and the crowds should be nice.

I agree with amamax2, an overcrowded day at Disneyland can be frustrating for someones first time, who doesn't know what to expect. Plus what a way to end a nice vacation with 3 days at Disneyland.

Thanks for the replies! We'll certainly look to do DL at the end of our trip.
Any other ideas on places to stay? It seems staying in the park is really expensive.

Arriving at DL the farthest from Spring Break would be ideal. It should be winding down at the end of your west coast trip.

I think I must be the resident cheerleader here for Homewood Suites and Residence Inn. They include a complementary breakfast buffet daily (and they're pretty good with hot and cold items, fruit, a make your own waffle station). Where you stay depends on your needs and budget. We like the extended stay hotels for their free meals (Residence Inn offers a free light dinner Tues-Thurs) and larger rooms with kitchenettes. RI has free parking.

Have fun!

It depends on how important it is to you to have low crowds vs. more rides and entertainment available. If you want low crowds go at the end of your trip. If you want more rides and shows available go towards the beginning of your trip.
