First time at Disneyland California

I believe we are planning on radiator springs first.

The attractions that should be open at park open are not always open. So make sure you have a Plan B (and C and D). In November we got there right when the park opened and RSR, Web Slingers, Toy Story and Incredicoaster were all down (at least an hour for RSR and WS).

What month will you be there? If it's during rainy season, some rides will also close for rain so keeping an eye on the wait times in the app is helpful. Definitely check before walking to a far away attraction.

Check out Disneyland Daily's website. She has great tips for first timers, including plans to get most rides accomplished in one day.

GOTG is more exhilarating than terrifying now. Two different rides. If you love Guardians, you'll love the ride. The music is fantastic as is the theming in the queue.

FWIW, my DH is not a thrill ride type of person. He did not care for ToT at all and was really annoyed with me that I convinced him to ride. However, for some reason he loves Guardians! It's something about the music, the laughter (usually) and vibe of the other riders, and just the general campiness of GotG itself. It's a blast!

ETA: also, the ride itself is changed in how it drops. Instead of the big drop like ToT, it's more like a lot of up and downs. There still are some big drops, but it's not as jarring.

Are you staying at an on property Disney hotel? That's who early entry is for. Regular park open time is 8am. Early entry is at 7:30. You have to be there by 7 to actually get in early.

Park didn't open until 8 so it looks like you did well to me. We never seem to make it over and into the parks until 9 or later. Enjoy your day!

It was great to get there early. The park is busier now In the afternoon. Food and wine is going on now too.
We didn’t even have to use genie plus until later We were able to go right on a lot of rides. Throughout the day rides were not working. so glad we were able to get on some of the bigger rides before they were down. We never went on little mermaid Because it was closed temporarily when we were there. But at least we got them in earlier Web Slingers stopped and we had to go around and board again. They said someone threw their glasses out.

Try to ride Guardians at night if you can. Oh and try to be in Cars Land when the neon turns on. It's great.

I did not do well with guardians. my Husband liked it.
Loved being in cars land. Amazing design work.
Couldn’t have asked for better weather.
I think the park started out slow and not crowded but later in the day it seemed to really pick up and I believe it’s from the food and wine festival.

Sounds like you had a good day overall. The weather yesterday was absolutely FANTASTIC! I went for a bike ride around the trails in my city and was totally thinking "this is a perfect theme park day!" You lucked out! That was the nicest day all week. Back to rain and cold again.
