Hi, We're thinking about a 3 day Disney cruise in December before WDW where we're having a Grand Gathering for my mom's 85th birthday. It's DH and myself, with 10 cruises on various lines including some European lines, but have not been on DCL. We have some questions.

1. Is there a charge for Palo's aside from wines and beverages? The sample menu on DCL site does not have prices for entrees.

2. Is there an adult lap pool, either large enough, or one where you swim against a current machine?

3. Is there a live show the first night out?

4. We would probably want to stay on the ship when it's docked in Nassau, I've read about activities for children and families on the ship in port, is there anything for adults, other than relax by the pools, which is fine, we want to relax.

5. Are there Art Auctions?

Ever since we saw the Travel Channel's show on the making of the Disney ships, we've wanted to try a Disney Cruise, and this seems perfect. Our Grand Gathering starts on a Sunday, and so this meshes perfectly and seems right.

Thank you for whatever help you can give!

My DW and I have been on 3 DCL cruises before and love them, as per your questions

there is a small charge for Palo...I believe $ 20.00 for both of you

There is a an adult pool , but no current machine

there will be a live show the 1st night

DCL is very good about having something for the adult crowd
wine tasting...cooking demonstration...bingo

There is a silent auction you can participate in.

Any other questions just ask...there is always someone here to help !!!!

1. Yes, there is a $10 per person "gratuity" for dining at Palo. I tipped more due to the excellent service and marvelous food.

2. No lap pool or current pool.

3. Yes

4. Yes, there are adult activities. Not sure of the exact ones, but a wine tasting seminar, bridge tour, or an art of entertaining series class may be offered.

5. Yes. The items for auction are located just outside the Walt Disney Theater. I know this is true on the 7 day, not sure on the shorter cruises though.

Have to thank you all, and for getting back to me so fast. I guess we're going, DH says to look at plane fares!

If you want to see all of the adult activities, I have the navigators on my website. My husband and I have no children and have done 36 Disney cruises, so our trip reports will also have some good info. for you. We've sailed on RCCL, too, but they never enforced the adults-only area. Disney definitely does, so you will be able to enjoy some quiet adult time as well as delighting in seeing the kids have a great time on board.
Hubby does laps in the adult pool when it's not crowded (which is most of the time), but it's so much shorter than the one at our health club that he usually ends up bumping his head!
