We are going to the world on Sept. 28 thru Oct. 3. My question is first thing in the morning at Magic Kingdom is it a good idea to get on the train and go to Mickey's Toon Town Fair? We will be traveling with three small children and will not be doing any of the thrill rides. So I thought while everyone else was racing for the mountains that would be a good time to go find Mickey and maybe this area would be fairly empty. What do ya'll think

Doesn't Toon Town open a couple of hours later than the rest of the park?

First off, welcome to the DIS! Second, I think that Toontown doesn't open until 10:00am, which is an hour after the rest of the park opens. Maybe you should consider walking to Fantasyland and get a FastPass for Peter Pan, then ride Dumbo, Pooh, Snow White, and It's a Small World. At that point, your fastpass for Pan should be good. Ride Pan and then head into Toontown. Fantasyland would then be "done" (although I'm sure with young kids you'll be doing things again) and you'd still get to Toontown either at its opening or very close to it.

Then again, I haven't travelled with little kids in a couple years and even then, my little cousins were scared of the characters so we were able to "avoid" all that Toontown stuff.

You'll find the DIS very helpful and I'm sure someone here with young kids can provide some good info.

I don't think Toontown opens til 10 or 11. I would hit Fantasyland first and do Dumbo, Peter Pan, Pooh, ITSASW and then you can hit Toontown when it opens.

Thanks for all the info. We have been many times but this is the first time with ALL three children. I wasn't aware that it opened later. We are going to the Magic Kingdom on the 29th and on the 30th for the halloween party. So we won't have to go commando there. :rotfl2: We are staying at POR so some naps will be taking place to (for me anyway). It will be me, DH, mom, and three boys 6,2,1,. I just know they are going to be telling me I need a nap. :rotfl:

We have two sons ages 3 and 6 and we ALWAYS go straight for BUZZ. We don't do that Dumbo ride (it's so LAME, I tell my boys they can ride it at the county fair, they have soemthing similar). We then pull a FP for Pooh and do Snow Phillaharmagic, Peter Pan and Snow White. Then ride Pooh. Toontown next.

Have Fun!

Thanks for the info on toon town opening later, I never knew that and we were planning to head there first. Now we will do a few things and head there closer to when they open. Thanks! :goodvibes

We have actually done this when DD was 3 years old. Toon Town does open at 10am, but the wait was well worth it.

The train lets you off in Toon Town, so you are in there even though it's roped off to everyone else. We got the best pictures of DD in front of Minnie Mouses house and Mickeys house without anyone interfering. There is also a little shaded park area right across from Mickey's house that DD was able to play at while we were waiting. When it got close to 10am we were first in line to see Mickey. It really worked out great!!

If you are not in a rush to go anywhere else, I would really suggest this. If you have any other questions - feel free to PM me.

Is the train station open in toon town yet? Last June when we went it was closed for refurbishment, lots of extra hiking to get there. Thanks

And miss walking up Main Street? Unless you have been alot of times before, this is so special the first day you get there.

With a six year old boy, the first thing I'd get out of the way is the Tomorrowland Speedway. It always has hour long or more lines, and no fastpass. Then I'd hit Dumbo immediately and assess Pooh and Pan's fastpasses to kill time until Toontown opens. You can always kill time with the caroussel, teacups, and Small World, then head to Toontown. Get more fastpasses on your way out of Fantasyland if the return time is more than an hour out.

When Toontown gets crowded, IT GETS CRRRRROWDED. Get in and get out as soon as you can't make your way along the sidewalk. There's really only the one ride, and then it's all about the character meet and greets. You'll spend most of your quality time in Fantasyland.

Finally, while the six year old rides Goofy, you can sit and relax in the playground in front of Donald's boat. It's designed specifically for the little ones and is shady. And to get them out, if the train is running again, you can coax them on the train and take it over to Frontierland.

That's a bit commando, I guess. You will get a lot of rides in during the Halloween Party, but if you get them out of the way, you won't be disappointed if you hit large crowds because you're enjoying a party later in the month. You can take in more atmosphere and special entertainment. We did the Halloween Party and there was still a long wait for the Speedway.

Another tactic might be to save Toontown for the Halloween Party. There are not a ton of really little ones there, and if my memory serves me, I think Toontown had a small crowd and we rode Goofy several times in a row, including once without reloading. We did go very early in the month.

Have fun!
