We are planning our first stay this summer for 2 nights as a midweek break at VB. This will be our first DVC stay at a resort other than OKW, AND our first stay in a studio size room.. We will be in an Inn-Garden View room.. (No ocean views available)

I have only requested a non-smoking room so far.. Any suggestions for any other 'room location requests?' Are all the Garden view rooms pretty much equal and I should leave it all up to fate or should I add another request. I don't really fret over room locations but figured I would ask for suggestions..

Any other VB things to suggest to a newbie to the resort with 2 kids 6 and under?

All suggestions appreciated!

If you want to get them into any of the "unbirthday parties" you need to be down by the rent'nreturn desk as soon as they open as it is limited places, if there is only one on the days you're there it would be a shame to find out too late that you need to be organised. There used to be a lady doing swimming lessons for the kids which may be popular/sensible with your little ones, that's just a sign up on the day usually. They do some games and stuff around the pool, I'm sure your kids are going to love the pirate (water) ship to play on.

There are a number of good restaurants in the area and you can find a book just behind reception, near member services, that has menus, directions and phone numbers to a few. The restaurants onsite are quite good, but IMHO a little pricey. You may like to do one night on site and one visit into town. My favourites are Hirmana's (mexican) which is just a 5 minutes drive from the resort and Jack Baker's lobster shanty which has a fantastic view over the intercoastal waterway at sundown. I'm sure you'll get a few more recomendations if you ask, or you could try a search as I know this subject has come up many times before.

If you do want an ocean view just call MS and see if one became available. In my experience, inventory is constantly changing at VB.

The only room I would suggest to avoid is the 2nd floor garden view room on the corner near the pool. It looks out over a roof top and you can't see anything. I would think you would have a nice view of some flowers, the city of VB or the waterway from most other garden view rooms.

Also, I was told that the northernmost wing of the 2nd floor is where they have all the smoking rooms.

We enjoy all the restaurants on site. We love to grab a quick bite at Bleachers snack bar when we are swimming or on the beach. The food is always hot and good.

You will get an actvity sheet when you check in. If there is anything you really want to do that may fill up fast, sign up immediately.

You will have a great time. Our DD4 and DS6 always do. You can swim, use the slide, they have a pirate ship, mini golf, arcade, activities.

I would suggest just to relax and have a good time. You may not even feel the need to leave the resort. There have been a couple of times where we have never went into town during a 6 night stay.

The pool area can get kind of crowded around 10:30a.m. We were sometimes up and around pretty early so that usually wasn't a problem. The pool is very enjoyable around 5:30pm when everyone is thinking about dinner and not by the pool.

If there is anything else you want to know, just ask.

:D
