We just arrived for our first stay at SSR. Received the text 15 minutes ago saying it is ready. We are in room #3532, great location. Let me just say our first impression is pretty bad. We are in a studio. We definetely like AKV the best. Sorry, but that is just our opinion. The lighting is pretty dim, a dinosaur of a tv, the decor is pretty lame, no hidden mickies is the first thing our 2 DS said. Definetely will not stay here again. I wonder why it is more points compared to AKV??

Not to sound fresh, but, you knew in 15 minutes that you hate SSR?:rotfl: Don't think you should give it a chance?:confused3

That was our first impression. We will give it a chance. We don't have any paper plates, plastic silverware or internet cable. We also only have 2 towel sets. We called the front desk and will get us all those items as soon as they can. We are happy to be here during the Christmas season.
The crowds today at Magic Kingdom was VERY heavy. 60-120 minute waits was the common #.

Some of the resorts are very stingy with the paper plates, little bowls. We had more than we could ever use at VWL last week, but when I checked into AKV there were only 4 of each.

Glad you decided to give it a chance:goodvibes
I agree w/bobbi some of the resorts are stingy w/the plates, but to not get any:scared1: or silverware?:confused3 Hope they've showed up with all of that by now:goodvibes

the cable should be the closest unless the guest before you took it.

Everyone likes something different we love the decor at SSR but not at AKV, so I guess it is best to book where you like to stay. No disappointment then.

I would gladly trade places with you in a heartbeat. We are close to flooding, baby has cabin fever, dogs are restless...WDW take me away to my home resort SSR. And btw, to each their own, we feel AKV is too dark for these old eyes...but if it meant we were in WDW, then my DH will bring his OTT lights ;)

Geez. I'm staying at SSR in March (2 mos. 3 weeks 6 days to be exact :cool1:) and I'm not seeing too many positive reports. I was so looking forward to trying something new but now I'm a little nervous! :sad2:

We loved our stay a few years back. We will be flying "home" on Friday. We will be at AKV and then a THV. SSR is great, don't let someone else's negative sway you. Keep an open mind about it. Don't dwell on what you don't have that someone else might have. Think about what you do have and be thankful.

We didn't go in any of the rooms there, but had to pick something up from SSR. I loved the outside look of it - I definitely want to stay there sometime in the future!

SSR is a wonderful resort. Things we like about it is being able to walk around early in the morning and it is so quiet. Animals all around - birds, small mammals (also snakes if you like them - not me, though). The spa is very nice. Artist's Palette is very nice - not the plain old hamburger. We've never had a problem with the bus. Pools are nice.

Mousekeeping took care of the missing items while we were gone.
We are very happy and lucky that our waitlist came thru for this stay- AKV was our first choice, then SSR b/c we wanted to try it. That's not the issue, so please don't bombard me with negative comments on our opinion of SSR. The quick service restaurant is great. WE just feel AKV is the best place for our family. If people like it, that's great. There are plenty of people that don't care for AKV- that's fine. I thought these boards were a place to tell our comments and ask questions?:confused3

We stayed there a couple of years ago and had a great time. We had one of the small pools to ourselves most of the time and enjoyed walking around the resort every morning.

It is but there should always be a balance or you will have people such jacesmommy getting nervous about her stay.

SSR is a great report, just not everyone's cup of Tea. You like AKV that is good, we don't. Which is ok too.

I don't think you were bombarded or anyone was harsh, just different opinions and when you post on public forum you are going to get opinions, that agree and disagree.

It is all good.

We enjoy trying other resorts for a "change", but always come home to SSR. We miss being able to walk to DTD and enjoy the skyline across the lake from Congress Park.:cloud9:

To each his own - we need those that do not care for SSR . . . .the rocking chairs are getting so you need ARRs . . . .(Advanced Rocking Reservations)

Merry Christmas All! :santa:

Please don't get offended by my family not liking SSR. We're just happy that our waitlist came thru for this week. We wanted to try it here, that's why it was our second choice for our waitlist. The CM's are great here. The crowds are very heavy everywhere. While walking to DD yesterday morning, a CM came next to us on a golf cart and asked if we wanted him to drive us there- our boys thought that was the cooling thing. We love all the decorations that are everywhere.
