We are just leaving from our first stay at SSR. We loved it. We stayed in the Grandstand section right across from the pool. It was close to the Carriage house and very peaceful and quiet! We previously stayed at GFV and honestly, we prefer SSR! After the hustle and bustle of parks or whatnot all day, it's nice to come back to the resort and just relax. The rooms were in great shape and very clean. We walked to DTD over the new bridge a few times. It was a mile walk from our building. We enjoyed the peaceful walk, so for us it was great! We look forward to coming back in 2016 with our entire family and staying at SSR in a GV.

We enjoy SSR as well. It's a very nice resort and we don't mind the size of the resort like some people do. We have also stayed in one of the GVs there. We had more than enough space except we didn't like the small balcony for such a large group.

In trying to book a last-minute trip last fall, I was disappointed to learn that SSR was the only resort that had availability. For some reason, I had developed negative, pre-conceived notions about SSR. Perhaps it was due to the fact that you could always get into this resort. I correlated this "lack of demand" into meaning that the resort must be flawed. I could not have been more wrong.

It turned out that we loved SSR, and are delighted to know that we can get back here on short-notice just about any time. We, too, stayed in the Grand Stand and love this section due to the proximity to the Carriage House. My next two stays are already booked for BLT this fall, followed by VWL next summer, but I am hopeful that we may be able to squeeze another short trip in at SSR thereafter. I'd prefer to wait until DTD is not such a warzone before returning, but being that the project is going to take years, we'll just have to bite the bullet.

Did you, by chance, get any pictures of the new bridge to DTD? I'd love to see some pictures if you have them.

I too love SSR. I hope we can stay there again soon.

It would be great to see some photos of the new bridge. I hope you can find time to post them.

I own at AKV, but after staying at SSR for the first time last year, we would choose it over AKV every single time. Loved the resort, the rooms, the pools and the proximity to Downtown Disney.

We're trying to work our way thru all of the resorts, and in addition to the two mentioned above, have also stayed at VGF and the Poly (the hotel, obviously), and we'd still put SSR at the top of our list.

That being said, we always rent a car, so for those who don't, I can see how staying there might not be the best option.

Transportation options at SSR aren't the best of the DVC portfolio, but they aren't terrible, either. There are a few "tricks" for making the bus rides at SSR a little less painful, but I would imagine at peak seasons, the buses are bad no matter what. Luckily, I travel in the off-season, so I've never had much of a problem with Disney busing at any resort, but I know I'll have plenty of people tell me I'm crazy.

We love SSR. Don't own there but would be proud to. After Thanksgiving we are spending 3 nights at SSR after a 7 night stay at one of our "homes" BCV. I can honestly say I'm not sure which one I'm more excited to stay at.

We stayed at VGF and SSR last February, VGF in early February and SSR later in the month. The SSR trip was last minute to escape the brutal winter and I will say that we enjoyed SSR just as much as VGF. It was so relaxing.

I am also a SSR convert! While I'll always love BC and BW, I was shocked at how much we adored Saratoga. The pools are great and the resort is very relaxing. We really enjoyed walking to DTD. Several times during our stay we walked over the DTD and jumped on whatever resort bus struck our fancy. It was a great way to explore new places. And it was a secondary way to get to the parks (obviously not the most efficient). One time we wandered the Contemporary and then walked to MK. Another time we explored BW then walked to Epcot. It was a fantastic trip!

I love doing this as well :thumbsup2

We own and stay often at SSR. We love it for the relaxing atmosphere, beautiful landscaping and pools, proximity to DTD in case we do want to get out a little late in the evening, and I love it for the LBV golf course being right on site.

We have enjoyed all the resorts we have stayed at, and we plan to try them all. But we do love our home resort, SSR has always done well by us.

As you stated above, I like to do the same thing. We did this last year and went to Wilderness Lodge and then walked the Nature Trail that connects it to Fort Wilderness. What a cool place! I loved walking around that resort seeing the camp sites and the nice cabins that you can rent. I spent an hour or two just walking around that resort. We do this often - cool to know others do it as well. We love the parks, but there is so much to explore at WDW!

Summer of '12, we stayed at SSR in the Paddock Pool Section and really had a very relaxing week! :cool1: No complaints here, just fun!:dance3:

Glad that you enjoyed your vaca!:thumbsup2

I also enjoy SSR. It will be all the better when the springs is finished. I think that will be great to just hop on a boat and enjoy everything they are adding. The rooms are nice, golf is easily accessible and lots of pool options. I would really like a different dining option. Not sure I love the turf club. I have tried it many times and it just didn't excite me. Service is not on par and food is so so. I tend to eat at Dtd more when I stay there. I do however enjoy the artists pallet. Great options there.

We've owned a small (55 point) contract at SSR for a couple of years and haven't stayed there yet. We are not fans of DTD by a long shot. We rarely go there. We've used our points at, Kidani, OKW and BWV.

We also own at BWV and think it's the perfect resort for us! We love the night time entertainment and walk to DHS and Epcot. :thumbsup2

But I did book us into SSR for three nights at the end of this month just before our Disney Cruise and after reading this I'm encouraged to stay there. :goodvibes

Another SSR lover here! It is just a relaxing place to be after the parks and we loved the pathways and being in a huge green space. A true pleasure!

We were surprised at how much we enjoyed staying at SSR May '14. The buses were fine, we had a great location and didn't even mind walking the long way over to DTD. It beats trying to park over there with all the construction. I love the look of the bridge that takes you over to DTD. Never ate at the resort, but did shop a little and enjoyed two of the many pools. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

We LOVE this resort. Going back in two weeks. Cannot WAIT. Congress Park, here we come!
