We just returned from our first stay at OKW. We were there for four nights in building 14 in a studio (1431). Here is a list of my likes and dislikes:

Likes -
- background music -- Buffett every 3rd song -- gotta love it!:thumbsup2
- laid-back atmosphere
- nice giftshop
- the gurgling suitcase:thumbsup2
- great proximity to Epcot and HS
- we had a magical bus week -- never waited at any park for a bus to OKW
- relatively empty bus at HH when getting on to go to the parks (likely a seasonal affect)
- glazed window in the bathroom -- served as a nite-lite
- nice floor plan for a studio. Plenty of room to tuck the suitcases, etc.

Dislikes -
- not a great pool area for DS5
- building 14 is closest to HH bus stop. When sitting at the bus stop, we get to see the buses come into the resort and 15 minutes later, it arrives at HH.:scared1:
- breaking out into a major sweat walking from our building to anywhere.:sunny:
- 3rd floor room . . . no elevator. I am capable, but with our "park gear", an elevator would be nice.
- HH bus stop last on the route to drop off. By the second day, we started getting off at Peninsular Rd.

I'm sure there are other likes and dislikes, but those are the things that stand out. We had a great time and would definitely stay at OKW again. I would like to try a 1 or 2BR next time, given the size of those rooms, but we did not have enough points. Once DS5 can swim reliably, the pool would be fine. I almost had him talked into going down the slide, but once we got to the top, he chickened out.

We were able to use some points from a friend, who is a fellow DVC member, so we are very grateful for the opportunity to stay at her "home".:worship:

Thanks for the info. Hoping to stay at OKW soon. Drove on the boat there on our last visit and it looks beautiful.

Westayed there last thanksgiving and loved it , being in a 1 br was perfect for us and never any problems waiting for any buses ,we are looking forward to staying there again sometime soon .

This is great to hear. We'll be staying there for the first time in October (studio). Any other "tips"?

Thanks for the review. We went to OKW to look around and see a room on our last trip in June. It definately appealed to us and can't wait to give it a try someday.

I am glad you enjoyed your trip! :goodvibes

Building 5? I'm not sure what you mean by this. The lowest numbered building is 11. :confused3

Our last three trips we stayed in a Studio in Building 14. We liked the proximity and convenience to HH and the Peninsular bus stops. Not to mention the Gurgling Suitcase. The third floor was never an issue as it forced me to follow doctor's orders regarding activity after my back surgery. :yay:

OKW, Ahhhh! :cloud9: Even in this "dreaded heat and humidity" I wish a were there!

I don't mind 3rd floor, the kids complain about schlepping the cooler and the bags, but hey, it's just one time up and one time down! If I can do it at 50, I don't want to hear any whining! When we came with my 79 year old Aunt I stayed at SSR, they have elevators in every building.

Glad to hear you had a great time!

Oops -- I meant building 14 -- fixed it!! Thanks!! We arrived by car, so we had to lug our suitcases and other items up the 3 flights on arrival. It really made me appreciate DME! We had bell services pick up our stuff on the departure day, since we had our Owner's Locker full, and it was quite heavy.

Thanks for the report! We leave Saturday for 5 nights in a 2 bedroom HH. :goodvibes

Concerning the pool - on our last trip to OKW we discovered the smaller pools in the different areas of the resort. What a treat!! Instead of the big, noisy kid-filled pool, we found a quiet, shaded, great for reading or floating pool a couple of buildings away from where we were staying.

We will go back to OKW again and again now and each time we will be sure to visit the different pools. It's funny - OKW was one of my least favorite resorts, but it has grown on me because my daughters liked it so much the first time we went. Now I often check to see if it is available first.

Would LOVE to have elevators, though!!!!

do you happen to have any pictures of the pool and the slide?...(this is very important to my girls ;) )...we are trying to decide if we should stay at OKW in march or somewhere else...

also since you stayed in a studio without a full kitchen what did you do for meals? If you ate at OKW how was it for non-sit down meals?

Sorry, no pics. Thanks for the links, Charles. We did not eat at OKW. We ate at the parks every day. I did have a sultry seahorse at the Gurgling Suitcase that was quite yummy!
