Hi all!

After sitting on the runway for 2 hours last night, I am finally awake enough to check in on the Disboards!

First let me say, that we could not be happier being DVC owners. This is my second DVC stay in 3 weeks, and I am looking forward to vacationing in style for many years to come!

Myself, Dh, and 2 Ds's (7 and 5)

June 4, 2004 Friday

You know WDW is going to be packed when AA airlines is completely sold out on your day of departure. We wanted to fly out earlier then scheduled, as DH got the day off from work. We finally made it out on the 2:40 flight to MCO.

Another positive experience with National Rental Car. Booked a midsize, but found a full size red Chevy Impala (lots of trunk space) on the Emerald Isle. Loaded up and off to WDW! $178 for 10 days and $28 for a tank of gas.

All that waiting at DFW was well worth it! We arrived at Shades of Green, just in time to checkin and drive over to the Poly to catch the fireworks, EWP and a hastily made PS at Ohana's.
The staff at Ohana's was WONDERFUL!! (Thanks wdwstar!! for the tip!)

SOG was very nice. It definitely has a lodge feel to it. Our balcony overlooked the pool. The rooms are huge! Definitely needed valet though, but they were a great group of young men and they always had our car waiting with very little notice. We stayed at SOG for 2 nights.

June 6, 2004 Sunday
2 bdrm. dedicated (2 queens) Rm#533

Checked in early at BCV while Dh and the boys swam at SOG. Received keys and parking pass. Picked up Dh and the boys and headed back to SAB to swim while we waited for the room.

It was after 4 pm when our room was ready. The 2 bdrm was very nice and CLEAN! There were some minor abrasions noted, but nothing I felt compelled to call about. I did call for a broom, as the unit was missing one.
I must say this, I saw alot of touch up work and cleanings going on at BCV during our 8 night stay. Our hallway was painted, the hall carpeting shampooed, The back elevator was painted, Patio furniture being scrubbed down, and 2 Cm's in the Dunes Pool scrubbing the tiles. There wasnt a day we didnt see some kind of maintenance being done.
We loved the BCV's, but I'd rather be looking at a dumpster than an obstructed view of Illuminations. How frustrating is that! What a waste of a great view opportunity. Needless to say, we didnt sit on our balcony at all after we figured out that the roofline blocks our view of the fireworks. Although we were told 533 was a wetlands view at checkin, it could have been so much better.

Loved the location of the BCV's. Dh watched all the NBA final games at ESPN. Ds's and I swam or went back to the parks in the evenings to catch the fireworks or parades or Fantasmic. SAB was great and the recreation staff worked hard to have activities for the kids each day.

Lifeguards were top notch and very attentive. Beaches and Cream was great as always and several of the CM's recognized us from last year. Cape May Cafe character Breakfast was alot of fun, the characters were great and the food was very fresh.

We did 2 WDW park days, 1 day at Typhoon Lagoon and 2 days at US/IOA. Dh and the boys have DQ AP's so they visited there several times also. Lots of swimming and sunscreen. It stormed every afternoon but by that time we were ready for a break. We picked out DVD's from Atlantic Wear to watch in the villa. The boys really liked having their own room and living room.

I did cook one night as my 5 year old requested (of all things) Hamburger Helper! I guess it didnt feel like home to him until he had some HH LOL!! 533 still has the coil electric stove. The glass cooktops will be nice. Is BCV scheduled to receive new stoves?

We did see Allie, fed the many fish in the canal, and swam with the ducks in SAB.

The highlight of our trip was DS 5 was tall enough to ride Space Mountain! We were able to ride as a family with no child swap. He was too excited! LOL

The 2 bedroom was very nice and much more than what we needed, but it was fun to have it for a week and a special treat for our first DVC stay as a family. We will most likely be staying in the 1 bdrm for future trips. As soon as our 11 month window opens, I will call and book our 2005 trip to BCV.

Any questions, ask away!!

SOG has the largest standard rooms in all of WDW. I used to stay there when it was the Disney Inn sometimes called the golfer's inn but I always remember it for its large size rooms and long hall ways. I loved it there, stayed many times before it was sold to the US Government.

Thanks for the report.

Nice to hear a good report. Just slightly worried about buying our recent resales there after all the negative reports.

I feel better:bounce:

So glad to hear you enjoyed your first trip 'home' at BCV! Thanks for a nice trip report.

Nancy :earsgirl:

Yippee!!! Something positive posted about BCV...couldn't have come at a better time. Thanks for including the info on SOG -- we pretty much have the same itinerary planned for Oct. but checking in at BCV first.

Excellent, excellent news! :D I wonder if this is an effect of folks calling/writing MS about their complaints.

Thanks for the great report! We usually do a night or two at SoG. I was hoping they'd add a slide to the pool.

I am so glad that your trip was you had hoped it would be and that you had a great stay at BCV. Thanks for posting your report. It sure doesn't take long to get back into the real world, does it?

Glad you had a great time.

Due to the fact there are only 25 rooms with the 2 queens/dedicated I don't think any of them have great views. I think all of them are classified wetlands/woods view.

Glad to hear about the maintenance and clean up. Maybe they are listening to complaints to Member Services.

Thanks for sharing. I got back less than a week ago and am suffering from post-Disney trauma/depression. Trip reports sure help! You can't beat BCV for access to so much fun.

Thanks!

i am sooo glad you enjoyed Ohana's again ! im looking forward to Ohana's at christmas time.
it really sounds like you and your family had a great time and cant wait to go back.
its also nice to hear about good reports about BCV. everytime we have been there the rooms were just fine , we had more trouble checking in all the time then any complaints about anything else.
when we stayed at the bwv for mh they were doing alot of maintance too. painting the hallways, cleaning the carpets, landscaping.
did you get to spend time at SSR, you talked about booking the one night there so your family cant see the resort and swim, well did you?

The parking was great at BCV!

My Dh is a do it yourselfer when it comes to handling the luggage, (I'd rather throw money at the problem and make it go away! LOL) so it definitely helped to have parking so close to the elevators.
We didnt use valet at all because parking was a closer walk.

We had some great PS's and dining experiences.

Ohana's Dinner
Sci Fi Lunch
Crystal Palace Lunch
Chef Mickey's Breakfast
Beaches n Cream
Cape May Cafe breakfast
Pepper Market

All were great and very good. We definitely needed the PS's, as walk ins were being turned away. Chef Mickey's was completely booked as was CP and Sci Fi.

We did two Universal Studios restaurants for lunch, The Kitchen and Motown Cafe. Very slow service and the kids meals were more expensive than Disney restaurants. Small entree and alot of fries to cover the plate. My boys are not big fry eaters.
The Mummy, Shrek and Jimmy Neutron were alot of fun, but we will stick to Disney Dining on future trips as both those lunches were in the $60 range.

We watched Shrek 2 at the Citiwalk Loews during a T-storm.

THINGS IM GLAD I BROUGHT ALONG...............

Tide
Dryer Sheets
Ziploc bags

Very impressed with the supplies provided. I definitely won't pack so much next time. Plenty of TP, Paper towels, trash bags, bars of soap, etc. We did not make coffee or tea, but there were plenty of sugar and sweetener too. We have stayed in Vacation homes in the past and you pretty much have to bring all consumables.

Hey WdwStar!!

Yes we did get to visit SSR! On our Waterpark day we went over to meet with our guide to finalize our paperwork for our add-on. I told Dh that if he didnt sign the papers he couldnt get the free ice cream at the end LOL! (just kidding) Word of warning to those that schedule a tour.......they take a nice family photo of you at the end, so don't go after you have been swimming all day! LOL
It stormed that afternoon so the High Rock Pool was empty. We were already in swim gear, (covered up) so I went to check with the front desk about Pool Hopping and say hi to Connie who is a front desk CM.
We were allowed to swim, but I did hear again, that once the resort is finished, Ph will not be allowed at SSR.
My boys really enjoyed both slides! We will definitely stay at SSR in the future. All they wanted to do this trip is swim and go to Disney Quest so SSR will be a great place to stay for us.

FYI ... The Diney Inn was not sold to the US Government. Our tax dollars do not support SOG. It was bought by the Armed Forces Welfare & Recreation, a non-appropriated fund activity.

Liferbabe, glad to read you had a second wonderful trip to WDW, this time with your family! thanks for sharing your trip info! The new, updated SOG was a WOW experience for us & we only visited there on our last trip. I'm glad to read maintenance is working hard at BCVs.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a great time!

Beware of getting a 2 bedroom and then going back to a 1 bedroom. After our first stay in a 1 bedroom we added on my points to stay in a 2 bedroom all the time even though there are only 4 of us.

Where was Allie? We checked every day last month and didn't see him/her we really missed him/her.

Glad that you had a great time with your family. Thanks for posting the details about your stay at BCV!:)

Lifebabe - I love your trip reports almost as much as I loved touring at Member Homecoming with you and wdwstar and her sister.

Sounds like you had a great family trip. I'm going with 3 friends from here in November for F&WF and then two weeks the first week of December with family.

Tricia
