I am going to make a quick impromptu trip to WDW. I decided I really need a vacation and hubby started a new job recently and doesn't have any vacation time and I can't seem to find anyone else that wants to go, especially on short notice.

So my dilemma...normally we stay at the Wilderness Lodge, my budget will allow me to stay at the WL for 4 nights or at a moderate for 5 nights.....I am not sure how I feel about a moderate for both safety and comfort but would like the extra day.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Why don't you consider a split stay to lessen the cost of staying 5 nights? My solo trip in September will be 2 nights at POFQ and 2 at the YC.

It is a thought but I am not very up on the idea of moving resorts. I am going for relaxation as much as anything and the thought of packing up and moving doesn't appeal to me.
I have a pretty stressful job and work 80+ hours a week, I next rest and relaxation

But thank you for your thoughts....I appreciate it.

I've traveled solo to WDW many times. My favorite resorts to travel solo to are CSR or POFQ..... both are awesome for solo travelers.
I'd do the 5 days .... the more vaca time in WDW the better!

CSR pros

1. adult oriented conferences mean many adult solo travelers
2. awesome pool
3. very quiet and beautiful grounds
4. very centerly located to all the parks
5. great lunch buffet counts as CS
6. good bus service
7. biggest hot tub on property
Cons
1. doorways lead to outside

POFQ pros

1. small quaint resort
2. boat to dtd
3.recently refurbed rooms

POFQ cons
1. boat often full stops at POR first
2. no sit down resteraunt
3. at times multiple bus stops traveling over to por to pick up guests
4. doors open to outside

I'm sure whatever you decide you will have a great time and most importantly
RELAX!!!:thumbsup2:yay::dance3::cool1:

I'm going solo next month for 7 nights. I originally booked the POR, and then almost switched to WL. I've only stayed "on property" twice (Fort Wilderness and All Star Music), so even POR is an upgrade for me. I decided against WL because I won't be spending too much time at the resort as I have booked the Premium plan, and will be doing lots of activities. I've heard great things about POR and look forward to being there, as well as having a boat to DTD.

Bought my plane ticket yesterday, now I really need to make a decision where to stay soon. Only 10 days till I leave.....for.........hhhmmmmmm??????

I personally love staying on property and I have never felt "unsafe" staying at a moderate resort. to be honest it's the only ones I have stayed at and I find them very relaxing. POR is truly my favorite, especially the princess rooms. they are right by the river and they close to the bridges and 2 pools. they seem to have less children (or maybe I don't pay attention to them) but it is one of the most relaxing places to stay, the grounds are beautiful and pretty quiet.

Have a great time! My first ever solo trip is coming at the end of September and I chose to go with POFQ... not only because it is my favorite, but I love the small size and peacefulness of it! My second choice would have been WL, so I do think that is a great decision.. but either one is great! I keep hearing such great things about solo trips.. 2 more months!!!!! :cloud9:

I find the Swan VERY relaxing, with the safety and location of a deluxe and the price of a moderate. You'll have to take a taxi or towncar, but you'll save more than that over WL.

Have you checked the Swan or Dolphin? They are in the middle of the action at EPCOT and the Studios (you can walk to both) and have specials that are along the price of a moderate while really being Deluxe. The Grotto pool is very nice and coming back from EPCOT along the boardwalk at night is a great chance for a tiramisu or other treat at the bakery.

I'm a young (relatively, 26) female and my first solo trip I stayed at All Star Music for 6 nights.

Disney is great for solo travel, especially as a female. I never felt unsafe (used Disney transportation the entire time). And if you ever feel uncomfortable walking back to your room alone at night (especially at a really spread out Moderate resort), just stop by the front desk and ask if someone can escort you. I did that once back when I stayed at Port Orleans as a teenager (stayed at the parks late after my parents went back to the room) and they were more than happy to have someone from Security walk me to my room.

Have fun!

This will be my 4th year solo first year at CS and the next 3 at POR Ialways feel safe and love the boat trip to DOWNTOWN DISNEY

I've stayed at the World multiple times solo, and I always stayed at POR. It's so relaxing and quiet IMO. I wouldn't stay anywhere else as far as a moderate resort goes. Good luck, hope you have a wonderful trip!

I find it weird when people question safety at WDW hotels. I have never ever once felt unsafe anywhere on property! Have you ever been to a moderate hotel? They're not a Super 8 or anything...

I am not sure how I feel about a moderate for both safety and comfort but would like the extra day.

I'm booked at Port Orleans Riverside, but considered upgrading to Wilderness Lodge (never stayed at either). I kept POR, so I could do the Premium Plan. For the money, I felt I would much rather see more on my vacation than worry about spending enough time in a hotel. Disney is great, but hotels are hotels. Don't let the word "moderate" mislead or scare you. And safety at Disney? C'mon.

Am going solo for a quick three day trip next weekend and am staying at ASMu. Really considering upgrading to CSR as it is the only mod I haven't been to yet. However, with the money saved for three nights I am considering doing the Wild Africa Trek if there are any spots available. It's $189, but there is a special right now for $50 off after 11 a.m. Going to call tomorrow and see if there is availability. If not, might change to CSR.

Have stayed at values, mods and deluxes solo and have always felt safe.

The OP had a some very reasonable questions. No one should question anyone's concerns about safety. I have stayed at Disney solo. I love CSR for the quiet and landscaping. I like to have a drink at night but do not like the lounge there. At POR the lounge is wide open and you can sit near the lobby. The boat to DTD is completely worth staying there (or at POFQ)
CM are always available for help.
I tend to request a room as far from the main building as possible for quiet.
Request a room near the main building if you are nervous about walking late at night.

I typically go to Disney with the family but have gone solo a few times. While I have had one experience at CSR that upset me, I would not say I felt unsafe at any moderate. Some 12 year old 'tourist' group boys were harassing me as I walked alone (but I was staying there with family). I just stood up to them and told them they were breaking curfew being out at dark. And luckily a couple walked by. But it can get very dark along those walkways so I wouldn't want to stay at a building far from the main building if I was going to walk after dark.

At CBR, I strolled in at 3 am one morning and didn't feel one bit unsafe! But I still ask for 2nd floor rooms or higher at any hotel when I travel solo. I've also stayed at Dolphin and felt absolutely safe walking around there and in the hotel late in the evening.

But, I was lonely. So I would actually do the 4 nights at WL. The resort really makes a trip for me and I would prefer to stay Deluxe anyway. When you are solo, you REALLY make up a lot of time since you only do what YOU want. So you should have lots of time to do what you want in 4 nights.

But this is my opinion ;)
