First Solo Trip in March

Hi everyone -

It looks like I will make my first solo trip in March. I'm single & 36 - what is the best resort? I've looked at anything from All-Star Movies (Fantasia) to POFQ and POR. These I can afford with the annual pass discount.

Any other singles going in March? I am hoping to avoid Spring Break some som I am looking at 3/17 - 3/20 or 3/20 - 3/23.

Suggestions are greatly welcome or even a new buddy to meet and hang out with while I'm there.

I'm jealous! I did my first solo two years ago, did another one last January, and wish I was on my way again I love my family trips to WDW, but going solo was something I enjoyed immensely. I am just a few years older than you, and it was so nice to be able to go away, leave my teenagers home with my husband, and just be on my own schedule for a change. They all agreed I needed 'me' time, so they had no problem letting me go.
I actually stayed at the ASSports last January using the 4 for 3 deal, and upgraded my pass to an AP while there. I didn't spend a lot of time in my room, but when I did, the value resort was fine because no one else was in the room with me, so it seemed like loads of space for just me. I also liked that there was always more people around - I think the moderates were a little too 'spread out' for my taste when I was by myself. I also told the CM at check-in I was by myself, and she happily put me in a room just a quick walk away from the main lobby. Not that I ever fear for my safety at WDW, but it's nice to know there are people always close by if you need help.
So I wish I was going in March to meet up with you and chat, but it's not happening this year. We're saving for a huge family Christmas at WDW, so it's a long wait for me until December 17th!!!

Did you check availability for the AP discount? DH and I got an AP discounted room about a month ago for late April. No availibility for our dates at POFQ and POR only had king bed rooms. All the value resorts only had preferred location rooms available. Although I'm a big money saver, I think it's well worth the little bit of extra money to stay in a moderate solo as opposed to a value resort. I've stayed solo at POR and AS Music, much preferred POR.

I don't think there's any one best resort for singles...it just depends on what appeals to you the most!

I'm single 25 year old female and I've stayed at ASMo, AS Sports, POP, and POFQ. Hands down, my favorite was POFQ and if I could afford it, I would definitely go back there for my solo trip in March. But without someone to split the cost with, I'm having to stick with a value.

I like POFQ mostly for theme. It was just more my style than any of the values. I really liked having a fridge in the room too. As far as room size goes, I feel the values are fine, especially for 1 person. The other things that I really liked about POFQ were the small size of the resort, the water slide at the pool, and the boat to DTD. Also, you can see some of the Illuminations fireworks from the South Quarter parking lot!

I'm going March 8-12. Any time in March will be spring break time. Every district and college has different dates for the breaks, so the crazy kids are spread out across the month. As long as you avoid Easter week it's won't be too bad. So either one of those dates you mentioned should be fine crowd wise.

I am thinking of taking my first solo trip in March as well. My birthday is March 23rd and my DH is encouraging me to go and buy my first annual pass. I am actually starting to get excited seeing everyone post their trips. I was thinking of staying at POFQ if possible. It is a small resort so I thought that would be a good one for a solo person. Plus I have not stayed there and my goal is to stay at them all. Once I know when I will be going I will post and maybe some of us that are going in March could meet up.

Official - my first solo trip will be March 20-23. QUick weekend and 16 hours in the car but much, much needed. I ended up staying at All-Star Movies (Fantasia preferred room). I can afford it and not break the bank. Now to pick which dinner reservation to make.

I'm on my 3rd (somewhat) solo trip in a few weeks - 2 of those trip being in early March.

It might be a little busy with Spring Break, but I'm sure you'll have great fun! Make sure you check out the resort thread to know about your resort.

I've never stayed at All Star Movies, been to POR & POFQ.

I'll be in Orlando for a conference staying at the Swan Dolphin from the 21th of march and I'll be there for 1.5 week. I'm a 36 year old danish guy looking for someone to hang out with before and during the conference-after hours. I'm well educated, single parent (6 year old son, not with me for the conference). I've been to Orlando a couple of times before - the same conference - and it would be nice to have someone for company/conversation.

Have a great time!! I stayed at POR in September with my mom - we loved it! But if I were planning a solo trip I think I might go for POFQ because of the more compact size and still nice to have the boat to DTD. I was thinking to book a solo trip at WDW and was looking as ASMu - I think any of the All Stars will be great! The room would be very comfortable for a solo!

I am on my first solo trip to Disneyland Paris - end of March!

Thanks everyone - as of yesterday my sister has now decided to come along (she's just a year younger than me). If anyone would like to me up with us for drinks/get together send me a PM so I can run by her as well. I have to call today and add her name to the reservation and get Magical Express for her as well. She's flying, I'm driving but I don't want her to have to hang out at the airport in case I hit traffic on the 8+ hour trip.

So where did you decide to stay? I will be going April 28-May 3 on my first solo trip. I have to stay at POP because I am also going Dec 3-13th! That will be the Contemporary. So this trip is all budget.
If I could afford it I would choose POFQ
