Well turns out sister can't come next year and I actually am getting very excited to try this solo thing at DW. Thanks everyone here for being so positive about it. I haven't been active in writing but I do read and enjoy all the comments.

Turns out mousefest is the week I'm there so not really a problem of things to do:lmao:

Excited, excited. last trip with family they had a meltdown the last day. Just think doing anything I want when I want and no guilt:) true heaven.

Just a thanks out to all of you who keep me enjoying the disney magicpopcorn::

I'll be taking my first solo trip this December too, and am already so excited about it. I'll be there from the 6th to the 12th.

My last trip was with with my family, and while I loved spending the time with my nieces by the end of the week I had it with family togetherness. We too had a bit of a family melt-down mid week.

I'm already debating how comfortable I feel about TS meals and character meals. I'm really thinking that I want to try one.

I agree, the only thing I wonder about are the meals. I've been reading some gread posts though from people who seem to really enjoy eating TS solo though so I may try it. Lots of time to decide and plan.

Christmas season at DW:cloud9: Truly magical. Isn't it great that meals are the biggest worry... what a great life.

Looking forward to playing and meeting new people. As we get closer let me know if you are interested in meeting for a meal. No guilt if not (thats why we are going wihtout family:cool1: I'm ready for the adventure:banana:

I don't post as much as I like but I love to read the community. Trying to get more involved.

This will be my first year going during December and really looking forward to it. It was a hard toss up between then and October, mostly because I love the halloween party. :)

I'm really looking forward to just doing whatever I like this trip. On my family trip this year I scheduled in a bit of solo time and it was just wonderful. I'm planning lots of free time on this trip. I have 5 day passes for a 7 day trip so I'm going to really take the time to visit the resorts and try some new things. So exciting.

I'd love to meet up for a meal. Sounds like fun! I can always be found here on the Dis on the Lapuette thread. (There is a link in my signature). It's a chat thread for some great women I've met here on the boards. I should be starting a pre-trip report soon too.

Have you booked a hotel yet? I'm still hoping for a good discount code so I can stay at my dream resort, but until then I've booked a split stay for POP and WL.

I'll sign up on your thread so I can get in touch as it gets closer.

I did sign up for my dream resort when my sister was coming with and I'm so far refusing to change:rolleyes1 I'm staying at AKL Savannah, still saving up the pennies(ok dollars) and may change but absolutely fell in love with it last year.

I figure it is the one place I might actually think about enjoying resort activities and just hanging out on the balcony versus always being at the parks and that would be perfect without worrying what anyone else wants to do that day.

Have fun with Christmas time, I almost made the Halloween party this year, still planning on making it one day.

Talk with you as times get closer and look forward to reading your trip report.

You'll love AKL! I stayed there in 2003 with my parents when we got bumped up from POFQ. We were facing one of the smaller savanahs, but it was still fabulous. My mom and I would sit on the balcony every night watching the giraffes eat right outside our room. Really lovely.

I'm dying to stay at the Boardwalk Inn, but the prices are a bit out of my price range this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a deal though.

I just started your Sept TR and its great:) What beautiful nieces. Brings back memories. I am the Aunt of many great nieces and nephews but two I was lucky enough to help raise. (hard to believe are now 21 and 23). Your pictures brought back great memories of our trips when they were young

Its great to be extra for the kids, I'm a true believer that every child needs someone extra just to love them without expectation...

Anyway by the third page or so of your TR I was already getting excited about AKL glad to hear you loved it. I'll make it work..got a decent rate through AAA, still not POP prices (and that is not out of the question if money doesn't work out) but not bad.

You and your friends sound like fun, I look forward to following along and enjoying the banter and stories.

Now back to your TR:surfweb:

I think you'll enjoy yourself so much you'll want to go alone again in the future. That's my prediction.

Don't worry about dining alone. Just employ some strategies--sit at a table with good people-watching or at a bar with other solos, and bring something to read or write while you wait for your food to arrive, and you'll be fine!

Thanks. It was a wonderful trip, even with some drama from my brother's FIL. I wouldn't trade the trips with the nieces for anything. This was the second, and I'm just hoping that his antics didn't turn my brother and sil off of family trips.

I'm doing the same in mid-March.

I did book dining reservations but none with characters. I might do 1900 park fare, but I'm not sure yet. I'm still a little freaked out. :crazy2:
