I just made reservations for my first solo trip at my DVC resort Saratoga Springs. Just a little info, I am married w/2 teens, basically have never been on my own (married right out of high school), much less traveled alone, so I am a little nervous that I will totally loathe being by myself. My DH has been encouraging me to take a trip by myself so I can feel a little independence. I have been to WDW 5 times and felt this would be the most comfortable place for me to go, well that and I am a disney fanatic like most of us here on the dis.

I will be @ WDW for 3 days (12/19-22), before my family and my best friends family comes in for another 10 days (12/22-1/1):santa: .

So.....I am planning on taking the backstage magic tour one day, and hopefully do the MVMCP on the next night. I haven't decided if I am going to do another tour or spend the day in one of the parks yet.

Any other advice on what else to do, places that are comfortable to eat at when it is just 1 of you? Thanks!

Going solo is a great way to do WDW!! The best part is you get to do what YOU want, when YOU want. Sleep in or head to the parks early. Ride your favorite ride over and over. See the shows nobody else enjoys like you do. Take in a character meal - I find them to be very comfortable when solo. The characters pay extra special attention when they see solos! I also find restaurants with counter seating good - Beaches & Cream, the Tune-In lounge at Prime-Time, etc. In TS restaurants, ask for a table for two near a window and people-watch.

Tours are also a great thing when solo - you're part of a group, yet doing your own thing.

But most of all, relax and enjoy - if you get lonely, think of your family arriving in a few days!!! :grouphug:

Travelin' Tigger hit all the important points. Do what you want to do without worrying about whether anyone else is bored or wants something else. It's much easier to find a great spot for viewing fireworks or parades when you're alone. In addition to the activities in the parks, if you like to shop, take a leisurely stroll through all the stores that interest you at Downtown Disney, looking at stuff as long as YOU like. I'm a movie maniac, so I spend time seeing movies that no one else in my family would want to see. Tour the resorts to see all the decorations and maybe have a meal. if you're uncomfortable in table service, grab a counter service meal and sit where you can people watch. Reading is a joy for me and I often sit in the Adirondacks chairs or rockers at BWI, GF, SSR, etc. Enjoy and rest in anticipation of the family and the bustle of the holidays!

I'm doing the exact thing...nearly the same dates and everything! I have done travel apart from my hubby and kids, with friends, but this will be my first partial solo trip! I'm really looking forward to the time to myself just before Christmas. Besides the parks and shopping it will be nice to just relax and enjoy the atmosphere...taking in the joy of Christmas without all the craziness! :santa:
