During my next trip to Disney I will have a few days alone before the rest of the family joins me. What restaurant would you recommend for a first time solo? I will be staying at POFQ. I am flying in on a Friday during the F&W festival, so I thought I should stay away from Epcot, or should I go to Epcot?
OMG you should so TOTALLY go to Epcot alone during the F&W Festival! Then you can go to all of the complimentary wine tastings and/or food demonstrations without having to deal with anyone else! You will be seated (both venues) at linen covered tables with other guests. I will be there every day of the entire festival as a solo so come and join me! Meet some other F&W regulars and find out some of the best places to go and things to do during this wonderful festival, as well as some things to suggest to your family when they arrive...lol...by then you'll be the expert!
Of course when your people arrive you will have a ball doing other things with them, but solo at the F&W? What a treat! POFQ...you're just down the road from me.
Ummm...if I sound a little enthusiastic, I am! It's such an adventure day to day...and then there's always the tea tastings and the beer tastings and the evening concerts (all complimentary)...have you been to Epcot before?
Lol...the first time I went solo to a Disney restaurant it was Le Cellier, with no APR. I checked in around 2:30 to see if they had any tables for one...they did and at 3pm I was taken to a table. I had a bowl of their wonderful cheese soup (with more bread than I could manage)...then ordered dessert (maple creme brulee). I was delighted, I tipped my waitress 25% ($3) and we were all happy.
I had a very small table for two and was fortunate enough to sit next to two families, both of which had the same philosophy as I...let's have a fun time and enjoy the children! Their children had fun making friends and comparing coloring techniques (children are always so much more appreciative of the finer points of their peers' efforts, don't you think?) and I got to provide some very welcome information for one of the families...made my day as well as theirs...and they actually emailed me later when they arrived home to thank me. I love it when I get to be a fairy godmother!
While that first solo dining experience at Disney was not typical...since then I have always felt comfortable no matter where I have eaten solo on Disney property. Lol...if you're a bit nervous, start out at the Patisserie in the little street behind the scenes in Paris.
They have a sandwiches (croissant sandwiches also), desserts and great expresso...or regular coffee too. I usually see their great, sit down, 180 degree movie first (sigh...wonderful tour of France in boats, a flower cart, bicycling (love ya Lance!), ballooning and flying over around and through France, including Mont Saint-Michel, Versailles and a funicular view of la tour Eiffel!) The theatre then empties one out into a gift shop (where else?) that also houses indoor seating for La Patisserie. One can also eat outside at cafe tables "in the street"...but in either case, this buffeteria style restaurant (enter one door [usually standing open], exit the other[ditto]) is accessed from the quaint little street.
