Well, my boys thought I was joking when I said I was willing to do a trip to Orlando alone but I was serious! My flights are booked and so is my car rental. I have a condo reserved but I may change my mind and stay on site if I can find a good price. While I love Disney, I plan to see Universal for 2 days and hopefully get a bit of shopping in. I love vintage clothing stores, used book stores and yarn shops. I'm thinking it would be nice to meet another solo vacationer but of course, I'm a bit nervous to do so! We shall see what happens.

Congratulations. You'll have a great time. Going solo is a lot of fun. There is nothing like the freedom of being able to do what you want when you want.

Welcome to the club and have fun, be warned once joined it's hard to go back. You will be there during F&W so make sure you schedule some time to enjoy that at Epcot. I'll be there solo but earlier than you.

I actually hasn't planned on Epcot but if there is something special going on, I might have to make room for it!

I'm always amused when I meet people who tell me they can't imagine being alone. Shopping, dining, exploring, etc. It's how I get my energy back!

Sounds like a fellow introvert to me :)

I'm a talkative, in control introvert for sure. I love getting together with people and being involved but I recharge in the quiet. My 16 year old son is just like me while my husband is the extreme extrovert.

I am a big introvert who happens to work in a very public career. I have learned how to recharge, but booking my first solo trip for October is probably the most out of my comfort zone yet! My partner does not care to go back to Disney. He went once for my birthday, back in March of 2011, and then the following year I had to go to Los Angeles for work and we went to Disneyland on a whim. That is the most he will do. After that, I think he would rather give up a limb than go back to Disney. Problem is, being an introvert, I feel safe around him in public situations. He manages my career, so I have grown somewhat dependent on that safety feeling. Going to Disney World by myself is definitely a big jump. It has always been a family, dates or friends trip. But as time goes by since booking the trip, I am growing increasingly excited. Scared, but excited. I find that what is helping is booking some dining ahead of time, planning my days well, I'm being prepared yet open to whim. And above all, enjoying being alone and doing whatever I want, whenever I want. In my 20+ trips to Disney World, I have never spent enough time on main street because we were always rushing. This time, I plan to really take my time looking at all the buildings and shops, looking inside the shops as much as I want, and just spending my time 'being.' And what joy it will be every evening to go back to my resort room (Disney Port Orleans Riverside - garden view room) and just being alone to lounge and be quiet.

I'm staying at Riverside too in a garden room. I usually stay Preferred but I couldn't justify that cost. Since it's just me, I don't mind walking to get where I need to go.

Yeah, same here. Being just one, staying at the Polynesian or other deluxe resorts at $500 a night was a bit silly, when staying at the Port Orleans Riverside was more affordable, made more sense and a very short bus ride to EPCOT, then monorail from there. Originally I was going to use a discount from a friend who works at the Disney Animation Studios in Los Angeles, which would have been great, but those work like airline employee discounts: you get the discount if those seats are available. Disney uses those discount rooms only if available, and they were not. But that did not stop me from booking!
