"First rule of leadership, Princess...." ~Overdosing on Ice Cream

No it's not like that, there are certain place that you can use your points to stay at that are part of the DVC, you don't have to trade anything. It's just a matter of DVC rooms being available, same as the villas at WDW.

I was talking about trading for non-DVC resorts. You might be right, but I know of at least one person on Disboards who got "matched" for Hawaii in October--she was on a list for at least several months before the match happened. The only non-WDW DVC locations I know of are Vero Beach and Hilton Head. And those are rentable just on points.

Question about your DVC tour? How did you schedule it? Did you schedule it when you got there or ahead of time? How?

That might be because the DVC hotel in Hawaii isn't finished yet, so they weren't staying at a DVC place. The book is in the car, but there are lots of hotels all over the world that are part of DVC that you can stay at with your points.

In every park and at every Disney hotel there is a DVC desk or kiosk. We stopped at the one in World Showcase and made our appointment for the next day.

did they offer anything else besides the gift cards for takin gthe tour...i wonder if it is negotiable like no, you will give each of us a 25 dollar gift card?

We didn't negotiate, we didn't even expect the gift cards. I read that sometimes they give people a choice of a dream fastpass or the gift card? Since we were going back to DHS and already had two sets of fast passes for RnR a dream fastpass wouldn't have been that great for us, so I'm glad they just gave us the gift cards.

i would have asked for the dream lanyards, i really want one of those, if you know anyone that would be willing to donate them to me, i would love it.

I didn't see anyone get dream lanyards, maybe you'll get dreamed on your trip and get some? :wizard:

Thanks, we are loving being in the house, though the dark wood floors not staying clean is driving me batty. I am hopeful for DVC in our near future.

Next update should be up tonight or tomorrow. I had to buy pencils today so that I could write it. I have a pencil "thing" I can only use Ticonderoga pencils, I don't even like to touch any other kind. At school I always keep a big box of them in my desk, but none of them made it home with me when school was out. So my one pencil that I'd had for awhile got lost in the move, so I needed to buy some new ones. Now I'm all set to write the next chapter.

I am enjoying your report. I recognize you from the DL boards--I lurk over there when we have a DL trip coming up! :) I have a question about the dining plan--How did you like the deluxe plan? Did you use all your credits for TS meals? Would you do it again?

Thanks!

Kari

Chel - my question is: how do you convert from pencil to the computer?

Chel, have you ever read the young adult novel, Bud, Not Buddy? There is a scene with a Ticonderoga pencil near the beginning -- I always think of it when I hear that brand!!!

Can't wait for the next update! popcorn::

We loved the deluxe plan and would do it again. We did use most of our credits for TS meals, and we did leave a lot of credits unused but we were ok with that. :goodvibes

Chel - my question is: how do you convert from pencil to the computer?

I have two compositions books, the first book has my notes from the trip and my rough drafts of each chapter, then the second composition book holds the second draft/final of each chapter, I then take that and type up on the computer what I have written adding in the pictures via photobucket.

I have not read Bud, Not Buddy though I've heard it's good. Have you read The Hero of Ticonderoga by Gail Gauthier, it's a good book and insightful about classroom dynamics.

I am not a pencil person but have a "thing" about pens so I can relate. And I am much better writing things out long-hand. For some reason I just can't "think" directly into the computer. :confused3

Looking forward to your next chapter! popcorn::

Great update - I've always been curious about the DVC so I wondered how to take a tour. Thanks for the info! :thumbsup2

And of course I want to congratulate you on your new house - it is absolutely beautiful! :goodvibes

I can't think directly into the computer either. Also I love to write, it's my form of relaxation/stress reliever. The kids at school want to know what I'm writing all the time.

Thank you.

Your new house is beautiful. I hope you are enjoying it. :goodvibes
