First round of stimulus checks deposited today

As of the night of the 15th my DS was getting the locked out for 24 hours message. We tried all day yesterday and got same message, even around 24 hours after the 1st time we got that message. So do you have to not try for 24 full hours? Like every time we try the 24 hour clock restarts? I haven't tried today but DS may have.
I am getting your locked out message too still & it’s been more like 48 hours.

Yes me too.
ETA: so my question is are they working to fix this??!

At this point the IRS is not acknowledging that it's an issue and is still encouraging people to use the site to track their payments or input their direct deposit information. Which is why I worry that this will not be cleared up anytime soon.

I read that the system doesn't work for those who neither owed or received a refund. Apparently they are "looking into it". Did you receive a refund when you filed so the IRS already had your direct deposit info? I'm just trying to enter mine but can't get past the first page. May just have to wait for a paper check. Unless they really think I'm not eligible somehow which would be incorrect since I make well below 75k a year.

Thank you for that information! I thought I was going a little crazy.

I got a refund this year so the IRS did have my direct deposit information.

The article I shared on here was just posted on my local news site as well. Hopefully with more people being vocal about it, the IRS will take notice and fix this issue.

Yep, DS filed 2019 just on 4/4. So I suspect that is the issue. And we looked at his 2018 tax filing and cannot see where the IRS refund was deposited in the bank. Maybe we opted to pay the Turbotax fee out of refund.
I have used Turbo Tax free file the past few years, so I haven’t had to pay them a fee. My refund is always direct deposit, and when it hits my bank account, it says it’s from the government. Do the refund deposits come through under the name of the tax preparer if the IRS sends the funds through them? I just received my stimulus (physically deposited yesterday, showed as pending on Wednesday) and it also said it was from the government. Perhaps looking back at bank statements would be a way to see how your last refund was posted and give a clue as to why the stimulus hasn’t appeared.

Also, with people who filed recently (thinking primarily about April filers) they could have looked at data through a particular cut off date for the first batch, and will go back now that we are past the 15th and run through again. I filed the end of January and got mine, my sister filed the beginning of April and hasn’t received hers yet even though she filed directly and has received her direct deposit refund for 2019.

The bolded is helpful. As DS filed 2019 on 4/4 and got refund on 4/13. It said it was from IRS (used Turbo but paid the fee up front instead of taking it out of refund). So I am hoping they go back and run the newer filers now. For 2018, he did TurboTax as well and the print outs we saved shows the same bank account info. I went through and searched bank account deposits last year and could not find an IRS deposit for DS. Probably took Turbo payment out of refund.

It still won’t even let me put in direct deposit info.
Do you get the “unable to determine” message? I did at first. Then I realized that I was putting my address in as “drive” and on my taxes it is only “dr”. It let me in when I fixed this. It could have been a coincidence or maybe check to be sure your address matches your taxes exactly.

I double checked and entered mine exactly as it appears on my 2018 return. Still get the same message about being unable to determine if I'm eligible. And now I'm locked out for 24 hours. lol

I’ve gotten both. Now I’m locked out.

DS still locked out too. I did a deep deep dive today, digging out print outs from tax filings. For 2019, filed 4/4, he had Dr on the address whereas in 2018 Dr was left off. We were doing the search without Dr (all day on the 15th until we got locked out). Now we're still getting locked out message with Dr added. Also he was mailed a check for refund in 2018. Without Dr in the address. 2019 we did direct deposit (into my bank account) with Dr in the address. Both years the taxes were done on TurboTax.

So if they went by 2018, because we had just filed 2019 on 4/4 (we don't know the date the IRS did the determination of who gets what...would be nice to know the date they ran it), then he'll get a stinking check mailed to him. And he just moved out of that apartment last week.

If they do go by his 2019 (if they ran it after 4/4...or 4/13 when he got refund...sometime in that range...or if they will run it again), he should get direct deposit. And it should say so on that 'get my payment' search thingy. At some point it should say.

I tried again today after being locked out yesterday. Today I got the “you are eligible, we’ll update this notice when we know the date...” etc.
I filed in February with H&R Block software and paid a small amount to the fed. I was able to get in on Tuesday or Wednesday to enter my information for them to deposit the money to my account.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the TT, HR Block and Jackson Hewitt problems were only for a small percentage of people that got an advance on their returns from those companies - we filed with TurboTax for years, paid upfront, and our refund was also deposited by the IRS , and usually in a timely manner

On a sidenote , now on SSDI and still waiting for stimulus ! Heard stories about being locked out of the portal for days now ( btw, the portal doesn't work for those on SS because our bank info supposed to be on file with SSA - 1099 form

The IRS site now states that those who receive SS or Railroad, they do not have your information yet *those who do not file taxes.
Note: If you receive an SSA or RRB Form 1099 or SSI or VA benefits, your information is not yet available in this application.

If anyone goes on Twitter at all (I try to avoid it) but anyway - it's kind of funny - everyone that was supposed to receive a direct deposit, is now getting their check mailed (myself included) and ever one says April 24 ! Guess they decided against direct depositing the rest?)

Just checked DS's status and got it...says it will be deposited in the right bank account (they state the last several digits) on 4/22. Yay!!! Oh sigh of relief. He needs it for rent.
Yep. That means it was sent recent wave, which was last night - (17th) and available weds - next deposits are 24th to be available on 29th - ( credit unions might see sooner than the 5 days)
