First round of stimulus checks deposited today

We should also be getting it, but no direct deposit today and the same "can't determine eligibility" message on the IRS site--have not yet filed 2019 taxes. Hopefully, that is the issue.
DS filed 2019 and got refund already. But filed 11 days ago. So maybe those filing on the later side are still being reviewed?????

Once again, not everyone is getting the payment today. It will go out in waves, over many weeks. The IRS site is overloaded, so that is why many people are getting error messages.

Do you work for the IRS? Or have they made a statement saying this is the reason? If so, can you link it here? I didn't get an error message. According to the article I linked earlier today, over 80 million people will get the stimulus by the 15th, today. Everyone else should at least be able to track it using their site.

We were worried about that too since DD was still in school last year and lived at home. The wording is just really weird and hard to understand. Did she file as not being claimed? I would not give up hope just yet.
She did file her own taxes. Did your DD get hers today? I’m holding out hope but I don’t know what she’s going to do if she isn’t eligible. Oops, I see that your DD did.

DS didn't get an error or a pending message. He got the 'we cannot determine any eligibility'. Which I will admit my DH and I also got same message. But we know we're not eligible as we make too much. But DS should be (he makes $35K in a hotel). So he should get a 'processing' or 'pending' type message. Not the same message DH and I got (cannot determine eligibility). I'd think. But nothing he can do but wait.

There are 330 million people in the US. It will take time for everyone to get their money. You're freaking out for no reason.

We should also be eligible, and, though I said "error message," the message we got was the "cannot determine eligibility." We shall see

Plus it says for us to read the eligibility rules. As if to see why we're not eligible. It clearly says in message 'from the information we have we cannot determine any eligibility'. That is not a...we are working on it message. That's a nope message. But I guess it could have been given in error.

Though, I suspect DS won't get it because he is under 24 and was taking like 2 community college classes. And DH and I make too much for us to be eligible so they deem our son 'could be claimed as a dependent' even though he wasn't claimed by us as he lives on his own and works full time. Just like my DDs-21 could not get an on campus job because DH and I make too much. But the college also would not talk on phone to us or allow us to see their grades because they are adults. But not independent adults I guess since they could not work on campus jobs. There they could be dependent upon us. Oh, and when we paid the tuition bill. But not if we had any account question. Then the school could only talk to DDs (or DDs could sign some form giving permission to talk to us).

Those of you with full-time working 20somethings living on their own...the ones who got it, did you also get it and the ones who didn't get it, did you parents also NOT get it? If you care to share. seeing if they might put under 24s who's parents make a lot into dependent category even though they were not claimed as dependents????

The one thing keeping me from panicking is some over 24s here also didn't get it and got this message. When they do qualify and should get it. Like Dentam. So there could be some other wave needing to get processed and it's just poorly worded.

I see, so just offering your opinion then. And I'm not freaking out, just need to figure out what to do if I don't get the payment as planned this month. We are supposed to at least be able to track these starting today. Thanks for your understanding though!

I don't necessarily think "we can't determine eligibility" is a nope. "Can't determine" means we can't tell, and it actually doesn't say "we cannot determine ANY eligibility," it says "According to information that we have on file, we cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time," which is a slight, but meaningful difference. Who knows. Error? Idk.

Could be they're doing those with 2019 filings first?
Just checked with MIL & she hasn’t filed 2019 yet & got it. So frustrating b/c there doesn’t seem to be any reason other than maybe an error & you can’t talk to anyone. Typical 🙄

Exactly. If it’s an error it’s frustrating that you can’t fix it. Other than this board, I don’t know anyone else who qualifies for it who hasn’t gotten it.

Question: For those getting this message, did you all file your 2019 taxes already? I have not since I owe about $200 and the deadline was extended to mid-July. They said if you filed in 2018 but not 2019 yet, you would still get the stimulus check. Just wondering if maybe it's delayed a bit for those who haven't filed for 2019. Basically just trying to find a common denominator between all of us receiving this message at this point.
We did file for 2019, but we didn't get it done until 4/4, so just about 10 days ago. I don't know if that's why we weren't in the first wave or not. We are getting a refund, but we haven't received that yet, either.

I don't know that there is necessarily a rhyme or reason to the disbursement if one has direct deposit information in there and you're eligible.

We have however filed our 2019 taxes. I do not know that it has impacted our ability to get the stimulus check now vs later.

They don't have my direct deposit information, that is part of the reason I was on their site - to try to enter that information.

Anyway, who knows. I'll need to plan as if I'm not getting the stimulus money even though I'm fully qualified to get it.

I know how stressful it can be I would suggest trying to give it some time which I know sucks

If my bank is overloaded and crashing and not fully functioning, which rarely if ever happens like this, I can only imagine how the IRS's website is handling it when there's loads and loads more people trying to get on.

You're right, I was just counting on that money for paying rent soon so it's hard not to be worried about it. I can pay part of my rent using a cc if needed, just didn't want to go that route. I will check the site again tomorrow. Need to focus on something more positive now. Disney Plus isn't working for me either though and I wanted to watch something on there... sigh. First world problems there I suppose. lol

Just checked. It said we are eligible but they say they don't have our direct deposit info. I had to enter the numbers from our 2019 tax return (AGI and refund or owed amount) and got a message I didn't match their records. I think it was because I did not take the refund but applied the amount to our 2020 estimated taxes. I should have put in zero for the refunded amount (instead of the amount of the overpayment) maybe? I have to wait until tomorrow to try again.

Same situation, tried with amount of overpayment and says it doesn't match, tried it with $0 and then it says system unavailable.
