I have been an avid reader of the disboards for awhile now, and a BCV owner for about a year. However, after I checked my mailbox this afternoon I was so "Disney" excited that I just had to post !

We originally had plans to spend just four days in a two bedroom with DH's family. They all backed out this month after 11 months of planning! (the trip was planned for May 31 - June 3rd -- nothing like waiting till the last minute! ) I decided to drop to a one bedroom and stay a few extra days. I had read about the waitlist and how it seems to come through more frequently than not. I called and got on the list, not expecting, but hoping.

Then today, after spending the afternoon in the hospital waiting room with DD to have a possible gym class broken nose checked out-- she is fine . I saw it. A letter in my mailbox with the familiar DVC symbol and .....
My first visit home, one bedroom, extended stay, waitlisted wish has come true :Pinkbounc

We now have a one bedroom reserved for May 31 - 7 June. And thanks to you all and the posts I have read over time I knew to make special requests (I requested a non-smoking, upper floor, epcot view).

Now here is my question... This will be our fourth trip to WDW in four years, but this will be our first trip "home". What can I do to make it special for my DD 8, DS 3, and DH (who secod guessed my sanity after I insisted we join DVC, especially since we are a military family and move so often that this is the only home we have actually purchased :p)

First of all, Welcome to the DIS and especially to the DVC Forum. Delighted to see we finally enticed you out of "lurkdom." Don't be a stranger, now, OK???? :teeth:

Congratulations on the waitlist coming through - love to read waitlist success stories!

Wait til the kids see the pool - Storm-Along-Bay is awesome. I bet they love BCV's video arcade room, too (even your DH). FWIW, I don't think you will have to do anything special at all. Just let the resort do the talking.

Hope you get your requests. What could me more special than sitting on your balcony, sipping a cool drink while you watch Illuminations?? To me, it would be knowing that I have arranged for many, many more wonderful family vacations that will be filled with happy memories!

CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME HOME!

P.S. Glad you DD's gym accident had a happy ending.
Please accept my thanks for the service your DH and his family provide to our country. People like you make our way of life possible and it is much appreciated!

One thing that comes to mind is to send a package to your children and hubby and yourself and have it waiting for everyone at the front desk at check in. You could package up some pins, a hat, a lanyard, a stuffed mickey or minnie, a shirt. All of these things you could probably pick up at the local disney store. Mail it atleast one week before you arrive and put your name and arrival date on it. They will mark in the computer that there is a package waiting for you. It's a lot of fun. I did it a few years ago when we went for Xmas. Great way to start the vacation off.

Have a wonderful time.

Glad everything turned out well at the hospital and with the waitlist.

Last trip we were myself, DD7, SIL and DN6. I downloaded some signatures from another site and as we left the room each day, left the girls notes from the characters and a pin or 2. They thought they were really hot stuff. It had some of the CM's giving me strange looks. They would tell them about how Mickey left them a note yesterday and asked if they saw him waving to them from the parade and how he hoped they would enjoy these new pins. I got a few other things too. I waited for my DIS store to have a clearance and picked up a whole bunch of inexpensive stuff. It was a blast and the grown-ups enjoyed watching there faces as much as they enjoyed the evening treats. The last day, Cinderella snuck into our room at night and left a note and gift how she loved having us visit and can't wait for us to come back.

Needless to say, I am busy colelcting for our next trip as my SIL has told me it looks like a tradition I can't break:p

Enjoy your trip
Sandy

........."Welcome Home"!!!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I think I will try the gift box idea, with a letter from their favorite characters welcoming them. They will really like that. Santa and the Easter Bunny usually leave letters, why souldn't Mickey!? I may even put in a few special items just for me
