Pat,
Don't light up the cigs! You have been so strong and supportive for your ladies - look at them and give them a big hug and kiss and remember your promise. You can do this because it is for them as much as it is for you!
As far as nightly duty, my DH did more than his fair share - here's how we decided who got up for the cry of parent duty:
I am basically blind without my contacts or glasses, DH is 20/20 vision. We have a digital alarm at the wall at foot of the bed. My DH would ask me odd or even, if I picked the last digit in the time correctly as odd or even, he would have to get up with DD. Do you know I hardly ever missed! Or was that DH just too sweet and lied to me, so he could take the special snuggle night watch.
DH and I would put on a CD and head downstairs to the big comfy rocking chair for that time. We've danced and rocked to the music.
Once my DH came home from work with a memo he wrote to DD about her late night escapades. Its now in her baby book.
As far as your contractors go...ever read "A Year in Provence"? Funny book. Not funny if its your home and contractors, though.
Hang in there!
Pam
