Oh my, I can't find my Pixie Dust! Kimberly was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed....at 2 AM. Until 7 AM. Am I the only husband stupid enough to agree to take ALL the overnight feedings? The Camry blew a tire this morning thanks to some moron's broken beer bottle. I have a project due by noon tomorrow but have to go to a pediatrician appointment at 3:15, and my three subcontractors all want to call it a day "to get ahead of the Hurricane" which is currently hitting the cost of North Carolina some 500 miles from here, with rain not due until later tonight. This means I'll be programming from dinner time until the sun comes up. Oh, and my feet smell really bad.

Oh, the humanity. Can I please have a smoke now?

Pat
Still elated to be a father, smoke free for 21 days, but getting REALLY edgy.

Oh no Pat, do not touch those nasty cigarettes, you are doing so wonderful. This too shall pass, that's what I'm always told when something goes wrong.
{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

((((((((((((( HUGS ))))))))))))))

Sounds like normal parent hood has hit Pat..
Sorry tho all seems to have hit at once, You will get thru the day tho...and just think of gazing down at Kimberly (esp when she is sleeping) and all those hassles will disappear.

As a father who also took all the overnight feedings, I can relate to the tiredness and screwed up sleep schedules. I don't think I'd call it stupid, I'd call it extrememely helpful to your wife who was already through a ton - you're to be commended!

The good side is that this too will pass. Once you get her sleeping schedule reversed (which may take a few weeks), then you really are up for the feedings with your catnaps inbetween.

Keep up the good work! (and wash those feet) ;)

LOL! Are you blaming your smelly feet on the Hurricane?:teeth:

{{hugs}} You don't need a ciggy.:) If you're frustrated, think of Kimberly's excitement when you take her to WDW next year.:)

"Oh, and my feet smell really bad."

Sorry Pat but that line MADE MY DAY! You're still ahead of the game because you haven't lost your sense of humor my friend!

Stay away from those nasty cigarettes~ you'll be glad you did! (((((((HUGS))))))

This too shall pass. Just when you're getting into regular sleep patterns again you'll have to wait up all for her to come home from a date. Did that put it into perspective? ;)

Take a shower instead of smoking. It'll kill two birds with one stone.

LOL! They never promised you a rose garden!:p Especially those smelly feet!:jester:

Whenever you feel the need for a cig...go grab Kimberly (gently now) for a father/daughter snuggle!

Hang in there Pat...

Slumber Parties!!!! My dd, now 13 mo, was the queen of the slumber party when she was Kimberly's age. Always very cheerful and AWAKE when you should be sleeping. I hope you have cable tv! And don't be afraid to lay her on the floor, grab a pillow and lay next to her and DOZE! I did that often.

And thanks for being a great dad, taking the night shift! My dh did that too for me. Gives you an edge on that Father/Husband of the year thing.........;)

My DD will be 1 a week from today. I can relate! DH was in charge of Kaleigh until midnight, I was in charge after midnight. He has to get up at 4:30 AM to go to work. I went to bed early so I could be ready for those 3 AM feedings.

Jeff,

SOOO glad to hear I'm not the only one that ever tried this. Do you really survive, or are you a figment? I'd actually say to everyone that I'm not really PO'd at fatherhood. I cherish the overnights with my daughter. I'm taking overnights because quite frankly, due to Amy's farm-upbringing and my unfortunate history as a bar-rat, I simply handle 3 AM better than her. And quite frankly, getting her up the first couple days required me getting up long enough to throw water on her. But the calm of the morning is actually a magical time.

What I'm really PO'd at is these employees with their "avoid the hurricane" garbage. And I'll not wash my feet until get their work done....

Hang in there (from another dad who volunteered to do the night feeding thing.....for both of my kids!!!)

Hey Pat,

I'll trade you. My 2 year old darling handsome sleeps thru the night little boy Jackson, for Kimberly. I bet you'd take her back sleep deprived and all in about 10 minutes LOL! Believe me when I say these are the easy days. Wait until she's two, and doing half the things that my son does. You'll be smoking 3 packs a day.

Hang in there buddy, as tough, and exhuasting as it an get, there's nothing better:)

Laura

Arg, thanks for posting the pic while I got my act together. I hope none of my clients are on this board....I are a profeshunel computer dude.

I believe that it's pronounced "Arrrrr", and you're a day early. Talk Like A Pirate day is tomorrow. :teeth:

Actually, "arg" is my own personal hybrid between "arrrrrrr" and "ugh." It kind of means "arrrrrr, do I wish this weeeee landlubber would walk the plank with sandman already."

But I didn't know tomorrow was "talk like a pirate" day. I'll be ready. Does the first one up (still up) at midnight get to start the thread? Would that be EST, or post-Carribean?:jester:

Hi Pat...hang in there, it does get better. My DH did a lot of the night shifts for both of our DS's - still does if they wake during the night. It's one of the few times the DS3 will call for Daddy (in other words, it doesn't have to be a "mommy do it" moment) -- if he wakes during the night.

Is Kimberly taking a early evening nap? If so, trying to get her out of that routine might help her sleep a little better at night.

Pat,

Does Kimberly sleep a lot during the day? When our DD was little, she slept a lot and the Ped said we needed to adjust her body clock and wake her up during the day. A couple of days were rough but then she adjusted and was sleeping 5+ hours a night by the time she was 5 weeks old.

Good job with the cigs, keep it up! :p

My DH is in QA and I understand all your programming troubles, but you are a great dad and soon all will settle down...until the next crisis arrives!
