I know there are a lot of post regarding use of strollers at the parks, so I apologize in advance for yet another. I do think I have a bit of a unique situation that I'm hoping I could get some advice on how to handle. For our last trip to WDW in Sept. 07 (DS#1 was 5 and DS#2 was 17 months)... we bought a Fisher Price sit and stand stroller which worked pretty well for us. This summer, we are heading back to WDW with my children in tow:

DS#1 will be 6 1/2
DS#2 will be almost 3
and... my nephew who will be 3 1/2

I could use the Sit and Stand again for the younger boys, BUT my fear is that they will both want to nap at some point... in which case the Sit and Stan only has one seat that reclines. Plus, my DS#1 is too heavy for it and will be forced to walk everywhere.

I should add there will be a total of 6 adults as well, so we have plenty of people to "push."

Does it make sense for us to go ahead and rent the double stroller from Disney and then switch the kids out as necessary? The 3 year olds are pretty average size, as is our 6 year old... would they all fit? :crowded:

My biggest concern there is identifying our stroller amongst all the others. Will all our items be safe if we leave them? Especially, the fans we like to attach and such? Not to mention, the early morning issues that come from trying to get a stroller the same time as everyone else (is this an issue)?

Another option might be to rent a stroller from Orlando Stroller Rentals, but then what do we do about DS#1 (6 1/2) who will likely get tired by the end of the day.

Any thoughts from experienced travelers would be appreciated.

Thanks!

We are going with 2 strollers (DS3[nearly 4] and DS2/DD2[twins]). We have the side-by-side jogger which we typically use for the twins and then we'll use a single stroller for the older one (may change back and forth as we're there, depending.....). But if you are concerned about the 6 year old and walking, I would strongly suggest having something -- especially since you have the adult pushing power available.

JMO.....

Our dd3 and ds5 fit great in our sit n stand. When DS fell asleep he leaned over the sunshade which was pushed all the way back. DD zonked out in the front.
We brought a lock for the wheels...just in case we felt like we needed to use it. We did use it a couple times when we dinned for an extended time. We also locked out backpack to the stroller (rather than carry it with us to every ride) so that couldn't "walk away," AND we did have a smaller lock to lock the zippers of the backpack together. Honestly, despite the threads about stollen strollers we felt quite comfortable leaving the stroller duing riding and most meals.

I left my double at home, and ate the cost of a rental, for this reason, and it worked out great! I fit my 4, 4, and 7 year olds in it, and I just tied a scarf onto the handle, and put my own pink stroller card in the back.

This is just my opinion, but I would rent two double strollers. That way you have plenty of room for all 3 kids, since all 3 will want to ride at the same time, trust me LOL. Plus there will be a little extra room for you to carry your bags (if you plan on taking a backpack or something) as well. As for decorating, I would laminate some fun Disney themed things with my kids names on them and clear tape them to the strollers. Since they are that hard plastic material, I don't think it would be a problem getting them on and off easily. I 'm sure you will get TONS of ideas from people on here with great ideas on decorating your strollers. You may even want to check out the DISigns section too. LOTS of talented ladies there!!!

Have fun!!!! :yay:

So, mjkacmom, your 2 4yo and your 7 yo fit in the rental stroller? If that's the case, then I'm fine with a rental. I was considering bringing the one Sit and Stand stroller and then renting a single.

I would check out www.orlandostrollerrentals.com the strollers they have are cheaper to rent than disney's and are much better IMO and your 6.5yr old will fit in it as my 5yr old rides in it daily and my 8yr old can fit in it as well the baby jogger city mini is what they rent and they have doubles and singles.

I'm going to have to compare the prices of this place and see what they have, for future reference. I keep seeing it mentioned. Thanks!

I had one reserved for 12/18-24 and w/ tax it was 90 dollars. Shannon is awesome the stroller it self is awesome I own the single but wanted a double for our trip. I ended up not getting b/c I just used my single and I love it regardless. Several people here have used them and have posted pics and everything.

ETA~ they do hang laminated name tags on the strollers and you can also add any thing you would want to it.

Yep, it worked great, and I've had the same luck with the rentals at Hershey - I like them more than a traditional stroller because they're easy to hop in and out of. Here's a picture with my oldest dd (5' at the time) in there, so it's a bit crowded! :lmao:

But I had the 3 youngest in there every day.

The last time we took our single stroller for the baby 5 months at the time and my baby bjorn. About 2 hours into the day we went and rented a double stroller for the other kids (then ages 8,5,5,and 4 we had friends with us). The kids pretty much took turns riding all day long, trust me they didn't mind being srunched in there when their legs were hurting.

Thank you! I am definitely ckecking them out!

I posted a similar question to people a while back and received great replies (like you have). As others have mentioned Orlando Stroller Rental is amazing and the strollers look more comfortable for the kids, they are less expensive than Disney, and you can take them out of the parks. Here is my thread about the strollers. On there you will find reviews that others posted. We have rented a double stroller for our trip in May with my two boys. Good luck!

If the 3 yr olds will be napping in the strollers, I'd bring 2 strollers from home that recline. For the 6 yr old, I'd have him start out walking, then rent one for him if he gets tired.

I'm on a double stroller swap here on the dis. I got the stroller for my middle daughter (will be 5) and the baby (2) It's only $10 for the entire length of stay. They've got 4 different strollers so you could reserve 2 of them if you want. It was the cheapest option for us and I didn't have to haul a big ol stroller all the way to disney in our already overpacked van. You can check out the link in my siggy if you're interested. :)

I second this suggestion. This is the option we are going with and the strollers are so much nicer than Disney's, cheaper in cost to rent AND you will have a stroller handy outside of the parks!
