We had the same worries last year when our son was almost 3. He wasn't too excited at the idea of flying, but once we got to the airport and through security he was fine. We brought lots of snacks and some new coloring stuff. (we bought a lap tray that attaches around the waist because he was in his car seat - it was great and not expenxive). Good luck!
And also thanks to lost*in*cyberspace about the tip for noise isolation headphones. My son is very noise sensitive and I was looking for something to take to Disney on our next trip and neither the pedi or his preschool could help me find appropriate headphones. I googled that and found a pair that I think will work great so thanks!
