First plane ride for 3 year old

We had the same worries last year when our son was almost 3. He wasn't too excited at the idea of flying, but once we got to the airport and through security he was fine. We brought lots of snacks and some new coloring stuff. (we bought a lap tray that attaches around the waist because he was in his car seat - it was great and not expenxive). Good luck!
And also thanks to lost*in*cyberspace about the tip for noise isolation headphones. My son is very noise sensitive and I was looking for something to take to Disney on our next trip and neither the pedi or his preschool could help me find appropriate headphones. I googled that and found a pair that I think will work great so thanks! :)

1. *You* need to relax so your kid doesn't pick up on your nervousness. :goodvibes
2. Hype up the trip, make it exciting, talk to her about it every day so she's really familiar with how it will go.
3. Portable DVD player will probably be your saving grace. At 3yo it's going to be all about keeping her occupied and not having her wandering around and bothering the other passengers. :)
4. Bring small 'goodies' to reward her every step along the way.

Our DD is 4 and has been on a plane at 6mo, 20mo, and ~3yo. Her 4th flight will be THIS WEEKEND as we go on our Disney Trip. The first two trips she slept for some of the time and we had to keep her 'entertained' - at that age we were trying to stay away from using a dvd player as a crutch. The third trip my wife actually flew with her solo and she said the portable dvd player was a godsend. DD still had her moments, but all-in-all (despite being sick the whole trip), she was pretty good. I think you'll be just fine with the dvd player and maybe a book or two or some drawing/coloring materials.
