I think that the cruise that left today is going to be the first Pirate night on the Wonder! Friends of ours are sailing, and they called us from the ship to say hello and told us that they heard that they would be having the pirate dinner/party and that this would be the first time. I am very excited because we sail on Feb. 3 and that means we will have it, too, if they offer it on the three night. We've meeting up with them next Sun. at Universal, so I am hoping for a full report.

Can't wait to hear about your or their experience Barb. I bet you'll be glad to get away from this cold in the Chicago area! Going on our 3rd 4 night Wonder cruise in June and can't wait! The Pirate night/dinner sounds like a lot of fun!

Barb,

Have fun on your cruise. I'm looking forward to hearing about how the Pirates night will work on the Wonder. Please let us all know about it when you get back!

I can't wait to hear about Pirate Night too. We cruise Feb. 6th and looking forward to something new!!!

That is great! Due to the timing restraints, it seems like to Wonder sailers always seem to get somewhat slighted on some of the celebrations.

Yes Barb, PLEASE let us know! I've heard they are doing the deck party AND a themed dinner. Fill us in on all the juicy details as soon as you know!

I hope this is something they keep. We are cruising on the Wonder in Sept and DH wasn't too happy about dressing up for dinner each night (He is very cas. guy) but he would prob. love the theme nights esp pirates.

Oops! I posted this news on several other threads; I guess I should have started a new one too!

I actually called DCL yesterday, and they told me Pirates night started on the 13th, which was a three-day cruise! She went on to tell me all about it, well actually "read" all about it, and it was the same narrative they use for the PN on the Magic--pirates taking men hostage, Captain Mickey comes along, etc. etc. etc.

She didn't mention fireworks, and I forgot to ask, so I don't know if they'll include those, but it's the same in that she said it starts at 10 p.m. and includes a dessert bar!

We sail in two weeks, and our cruise thread has been crossing our fingers and praying for this for a long time! I guess some pixie dust made it to Heaven! LOL! WE ARE SO EXCITED!

My 5-year old had already pakced his Captain Hook Halloween costume in our "cruise box," and he was watching POC last night in bed when he came out and told us he wasn't taking his costume because he didn't want Jack Sparrow thinking he was a pirate and capturing him! LOL! I just hope both my boys are AWAKE at 10 p.m.!!

Anyone have any thoughts on how their kids did by 10 p.m. at night after a full day of activities?

Yes, there was a Pirates in the Caribbean night on the cruise that we just got off of yeterday. At dinner it was pirate themed, and they gave out glow in the dark bandanas for everyone to wear. Following dinner they had a really big deck party. Don't think there was any fireworks.

Was the dinner pirate themed? Did they have the pirate-type menus? Did Jack Sparrow come down the smokestack and did Captain Mickey save the day?

We are cruising in two weeks, and I'd love all the details! Thanks!

We actually skipped both because I had a migraine and the DH nor I felt like dressing up, so we skipped. But from what the servers had told me the night before dinner was pirate themed, but I don't know about the menu. From what I heard the show was good v/s bad, and Captain Hook was to have made an appearance. Sorry I can't tell you more.

Oh well, that's okay. Maybe someone else will poke their head and let us know how it goes!

Glad you had a good trip!

I have been reading many posts about the "Great Time" Pirates night turned out to be. Costumes, Fireworks, etc...
I also read somewhere that the dinner was great too!

Looks like we're in for some Fun!!! pirate:

dumb question - what is it!!!(Pirate Night)
We are on the 3 night 2/24, do they still have the formal night? Or is this in place of it? If so, what does one wear?

We're sailing for the first time in April, do these dinners take place no matter what your rotation is? Do you have to dress up? It sounds like lots of fun!

I was there!! It was a pirate themed menu that they let you keep and a bright red bandana. We were in AP for dinner that night. It kinda took away form AP in my opinoin or maybe I was just dispappointed in AP. Spent about 15 min at the deck party it was loud and I had my 8yo asleep in the cabin alone. Rest of my group was there (couldn't fing them!) and they saiod it was cute. They make a big deal at the kids club about not telling Captn Hook about the party so he wouldn't wreck the fun. Dont know how he played into the party.

Hi Clarabelle....on the 3 night there is no official formal night so it would not be replacing anything. Pirate night is a pirate themed evening starting with dinner. When we went to pirate night on the Magic DCL has provided pirate headbands and treasure map themed menus with dishes called Blackbeards Jumbo crab cakes, or Chilled to the Bone Honeydew Melon, Cannon smoked chicken, Hideaway Bay Salad or Shiver-Me-Timbers White Chocolate Cheesecake, etc. You get the idea...all pirate inspired named dishes.

The menu is really cool and you get to keep it. Is is rolled like a scroll and has great pirate graphics on it.

Then, after dinner there is a huge pirate themed deck party with the CM's dressed as wenches and pirates and they do a "show" on stage with Captain Hook and a Jack Sparrow type character swings down from the smoke stack...of course pirate Mickey saves the day!!!

We just sailed on the wonder 3 night starting the 6th of Jan and they had not implemented pirate night yet...but glad they now have it.

MJ

They also have a wonderful buffet up on deck with treasure chests, pirate ships, and all types of stuff to eat (can't remember exactly, because we just looked at it, but did not eat anything as we just got done with dinner!).

Can't wait!!! I will make sure DS age 5 finds and brings his "Disney Pirate Hat" with his name on it!!

so happy I don't have to pack "formals". We are surprising the kids with the cruise after our WDW stay, so trying to pack the fancy stuff with them not knowing it was going to be a trip!!!

Yes, they have Pirate Night. It is exactly like the show we had on the Magic. I asked Capt. John about the fireworks, and he said they get the equipment for the Wonder in February.

It takes place on Nassau night. As a result, it changes dining rotations. Your first two nights are in the same place. For example, our rotation is PPTA.
