The saga continues... By the way it was June 23-29...
Day 2, Sunday, we decided on Epcot. We basically went against EE dyas since we couldn't take advantage of them. At least on this day, Epcot was a great choice. We hardly had a wait for anything. At park opening, we immediately went to Test Track and walked on the ride. DS decided he didn't really want to do Test Track after all so he had is very first visit on what would later be known as the "chicken bench" ride. We hit all the pavillion spots in Future World and didn't really run into too many lines. Around lunch time we walked over to the Land to do the boat ride which we thought DS could handle. It now had a 30 minute wait. We decided to Fast Pass it and have lunch. We ate at the various places. The adults had tuna salad and deli sandwiches, DD had a peanut butter/jelly sandwich, and DS had chicken fingers. All of the food was fine, nothing spectacular. We then did the boat ride which DS was able to handle. We spent the morning at Future World with virtually no waits and no unbearable crowds. We later moved over to where all the countries are and roamed around there for awhile. Had about a 1 hour rainshower which got us stuck in Mexico for awhile. I like that place but after an hour or more of darkness I was feeling a bit gloomy. We saw lots of characters on this side of the park and met up with a funny Genie in Morrocco. He decided to flirt with me and sit on my lap. When he got up I patted his bottom which really floored my DS!! We decided to hop on over to Chef Mickey's for diner (no PS) and prayed we'd get in. We got right in with no problem. I have to say that this place (foodwise) is really going downhill. We eat here every trip and on every trip I think the food gets worse. This time, I think the food bordered on being of cafeteria quality. The prime rib was tough. There weren't too many entrees to select from and nothing seemed overly appetizing. Also, standing in line at a salad bar with 20 people just drives me nuts! Have you ever noticed that some people take absolutely FOREVER to get their food? I had a couple in front of me that were inspecting each and every olive on the platter to ensure that the one THEY picked had a beautifully plump pimento inside. I mean, how rude. Then whatever the man picked up on his plate, the woman got the same exact thing--nothing more nothing less. I wanted to scream at her "CAN'T YOU PICK YOUR OWN FOOD." I refuse to believe that two people can enjoy EXACTLY the same food. (Okay the mattresses and lack of sleep were beginning to get to me here). We then headed back to Epcot to view the 6:30 Tapestry of Nations parade. This was nice, but I don't think it was a must-do. We then headed over to Test Track again because DS was sure he was ready. It was now that we discovered that DS has some "anxiety issues." He had talked about Test Track for the past 2 years (he had ridden it at age 4). We all get in line, go through the pre-show as DS is furiously biting his nails. As we are in line to board the car, he starts coughing/choking and then starts vomiting all over the line. Oh, those poor people!! Now most of you are probably thinking "food poisoning?" But no--he got so nervous that he started vomiting. I got to the nearest exit as fast as possible all the while noting the horror in people's eyes (especially the men). The women seemed quite sympathetic. I got out as fast as I could. By then the vomiting of the Chef Mickey's meal was over. DS then starts crying (bad) that he wants to go on that ride. I went to the cast member and explained what had happened. He was nice enough to give us two re-entry passes to get back on. I'm sure the vomit on our sandals helped! We went back to the ride, DS kept his remaining stomach contents intact, and he ended up loving the ride. Unfortunately, his anxiety never went away and we had this problem, sans vomiting, throughout our trip.
Day 3, Monday, the kids were ready for the water park. Spent the hours of 10-2 at Typhoon Lagoon. Since we didn't feel like using one of our days on our pass, we decided that we might like to do the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review. We always do this as the kids love it, but again, I usually always plan it out and have had ressies for at LEAST 6 months. So here we are with a few hours before the 5:00 p.m. show. I called and was told that they could certainly accommodate us. I was sure we would be seated upstairs, but we were right on the floor about 3 rows back. The food was better than last time. I could actually chew the meat on the ribs and they were somewhat good. Last time they were quite tough. Kids loved this again. They had a different Six Bits than on my last few visits, and I didn't think he was as funny as the other, but he was still pretty good. A party of about 10 next to us was 30 minutes late for the show because they got all screwed up on the internal Fort Wilderness busses. This was the first year we had ever driven to Fort Wilderness and took the bus over to Pioneer Hall. I thought it was pretty easy--Boone bus over, Crockett bus back, but apparently people have trouble with the signs. I felt bad for them because that is a very expensive show. I think Fort Wilderness should put up a better sign for the busses to Pioneer Hall since I have read that many people have problems.
Part 3 will include our trip to MGM/AK/MK, nausea and anxiety....
