We are going to be staying at the car. beach resort, not arriving until 2:00-3:00 p.m. What would be some good suggestions for a good first night restaurant? Nothing to fancy, but something more than a deli type establishment.thank you ,Rich

OK Rich, here's a unique suggestion.
Drive over to Celebration and have dinner at The Market Street Cafe. More than a deli, but less than a full blown establishment. Great meals, lots of food for about $10-12 per adult.
Also, you could walk around Main Street, sit by the lake, or maybe even catch a movie at the AMC Theatre.

If there are MK fireworks that night, you could try a meal in a monorail resort or WL and then watching the fireworks from the Poly beach, and also the Electrical Water Pageant if the timing works out right. Some suggestions:

Trails End Buffeteria at Fort Wilderness
Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge
Kona Cafe at Poly

OR character meals at Chef Mickey's (Contemporary) or 1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian).

My choices would be Ohana's at the poly or the character meal at 1900 PF

Big River Brewery at the BWR, Great Outdoor seating so you can people watch.
Beaches & Cream - YC/BC
Deli type Restaurant at the Dolphin, Sorry cant remember the name.
If you are looking for menus go to www.wdwig.com/menu/menus.htm

My suggestions are:

1) Boma at AKL- Good Buffet and a great chance to see the lodge and the animals!

2) One of the BW restaurants - There are lots of fun things to see & do on the BW

3) Chef Mickey's - To get in to the Disney mood! It is easy to take the bus to MK and then take the monorail or walk to the Cont.

I am for Chef Mickeys! It is a great way for the kids to see all the major characters before going to the parks. We have always had a great meal and it gets us all in the disney mood. It is also a good way to get the autographs for these characters done. If it is a fireworks night you can go up to the viewing area on the roof of the Contemporary and watch them.

Our DD is five so of course we have to go right to MK & we usually do dinner at the Liberty Tavern or lunch at Crystal Palace (which of course if closed right now). Gets her in the mood for the whole Disney experience and helps re-orient her w/ the characters. We go quite a bit but everytime we go back that first time she still is a little stand-offish. Have fun!

We loved doing Chef Mickey's on our first night there, but for a change on our November trip, we're going to the Polynesian Luau our first night! I think the kids will love it!
