What do you think is my best strategy for getting a room for our first night? We have already booked 8 nights at BWV in October. If we leave on Friday night, we can fly out of Scranton, PA for $185, arriving at MCO a little past 11:00. If we fly out of Philadelphia, it is $166, but we'll have to stay by the airport the night before and we won't get to MCO until late morning.... After the grocery stop and checkin, It'll be 2:30 before we can realistically hit any of the parks.
The airport in Scranton is 15 minutes from our house and PHL is 2.5 hours, plus gas, plus tolls, plus needless wear and tear on our bodies. It seems to make more sense to me to fly out the night before and stay at an All Star. At least Disney will transfer our luggage for us and even if we sleep in a bit, we'll have a fuller day in the parks.
Here's my question. Through Disney's website and through Expedia, the current rate is $99. If I book with the Disney Club card, I know I will get a discount. Is it easy to change my reservation if a better code than the DC card comes along if I book that way? I'm hoping that they will extend the $59 per night past 10/2. All I'm looking for is a room in which we can crash for the night, but still be convenient for us the next day. If it wasn't for this, I wouldn't consider staying in an AS... hated it the last time we stayed there, but for one night, it'll be fine, and our kids will probably like the theming more than my DH and I did.
Also, I planned on stopping at the grocery store for some supplies since we'll have a refrigerator at BWV. Should I just buy bottled water and soda since I won't have a refrigerator in the AS? I really don't mind paying whatever I have to pay at the store on the BW for milk if that's really the only perishable item we'll need. I'm planning to buy fruit, too, but that should survive the transfer without too much ado.
Thanks for your help, as always.
