first night recommendations w/ 3 yr old??

DH and I are taking our almost 3 yr old to her first plane ride and Disney trip first week of Sept. I am not sure where we are staying yet for first night (hoping for good Sept rates soon) but it will be inside Disney as we will be at OKW the rest of the week. Anyway. I am looking for suggestions for first night from 4pm on. Probably will be an early to bed night though so firework sightings aren't an issue and will be doing Chef Mickey's our last day.

my two thoughts were:
Ohana's (as I am hoping for a poly ressie)
or checking out AKL and eating there since none of us have been there yet.

Would love all suggestions!!

How about Fort Wilderness for dinner and hayrides or pony rides or something? I haven't been there yet but it seems like there is enough to do to keep you busy for a few hours before dinner, and then some fairly early post dinner stuff so you can get your little one to bed.

thansk for the idea. I was at Fort Wilderness along time ago w/ my mom (she is a travel agent) I had no idea they had pony rides etc.. there. I think they have a good buffet too - right??

I would definitely go for something low key. Your DD is probably going to be a bundle of energy/excitement that could go into overload. I think AKL is a good idea. If she's too excited for a real sitdown dinner you could just go to Mara's. I think they do stories in the lobby which might be fun. Just looking around would probably be enough for the 1st night. Have a great trip .

We always plan a character dinner the first night since we don't go to the parks on our arrival day. It gets our 3 and 4 year olds very excited about the upcoming events of the trip without wearing them out too much. After an early dinner, we try to get them to bed so we can start out early the next day.

This year we will go to Chef Mickey's our first night.

Fort Wilderness has a playground and a petting Zoo also. They do have a buffet called the Trails End Buffet and I found out from someone on this board that they don't Take PS and you should be able to get seated pretty much right away. Another option is to go to FW for the activities and stay at the Wilderness Lodge the first night, there is a mile long walking path between hotels, that would expend some of her energy. Then do Whispering Canyon for supper. That is a really fun restaurant, your daughter might like it.

We are checking it around 3 - 4pm and I decided it would be fun to do Chief Mickey's around 6:30 so between 4-6:15pm I wanted to stop at the all-star movie resort to check out the big buzz lightyear and Andy's room then maybe ride the monorail for a bit then go eat then to bed
