As its our first time we need your thoughts on this.

I don't know about you, but to build up the excitement to new levels we all narrate a story about the night before the journey, what time we will get up, going to the airport.....basically we tell stories to each other but none of us can decide on a game plan after we get to our villa. Our initial thoughts were to go do a bit of shopping then get a take away and relax in the villa, then we thought maybe we could go to Down town disney and have a look around, get a meal then do a bit of shopping on our way home but maybe we will be too tired.

So my question is, what do you do on the first night when you arrive?

Thanks in advance,

Cath :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

On our first night, we order take out, un pack and swim in our pool.
We were so tired last year that when we ate the pizza we practically had our eyes closed!
All depends on what time your flight get's in I think.

I agree - we normally stay in the boardwalk area and out first night tradition is to un pack, and head to epcot for fish and chips and watch illuminations!

However we were so tired this time we just got a pizza in the room and fell asleep!!

We stay on site in a Disney resort so we usually unpack then head to DTD for something to eat at Woolfgang Puck Express. The plan is usually to then have a look around the shops but I don't think we've managed that yet, by the time we've finished eating the only thing we're fit for is bed ;)

Last year we wandered around Old Town in Kissimee, then got takeaway and went back to the hotel room

This year we are planning on heading to World Showcase for Illuminations

We wanted to go see Meatloaf Playing at Hard Rock this Saturday, day we arrive, but our flight is not scheduled to arrive until 5.40pm, virgin miles and money were not available on earlier flight.
Now we will probably unpack and go to Downtown Disney for an hour. Mybe go to Publix if we have time also.

We're always very tired after the 9 hour+ flight. Normally, we get checked in, un-pack, get some groceries in and bring a takeaway pizza into the suite. Then we order a pay-per-view movie (and usually fall asleep half-way through:rotfl: )
I'd recommend that you don't plan too much - think about where you might like to go if you don't feel too tired and also make a back-up plan for if you are!
There's plenty of time and it's best to be refreshed for your first full day than than trying to do too much on your first night!
Have a great holiday! :thumbsup2

Dont any of you sleep on the plane? :confused3
I guess we are lucky we sleep anywhere, anytime. Although if you are sat near us on Saturday you wont get much sleep for us snoring we are LOUD!!:rotfl2:
We always sleep 5 hours at least so when we get there it cancels the time diff, go to bed about 11-12pm and get up ready for parks 7:30 first day.:cool1: We will be waiting for turnstiles opening at MGM Sunday morning 9am.

On the way to the villa we stop at wal mart and get the important stuff, gatorade, cookies, fruit, orange juice, water and bud and then go to the villa, unpack have a swim and are ready for bed, too tired to go out. We are then up early next morning, swim, breakfast at Golden Corral and then one of the parks.

We've only ever been off-site until now, and none of us sleep too well on the plane, so by the time we arrive at the hotel we've been up for nearly 24hours straight. Still, when we arrive at the hotel, we usually unpack, take a trip next door to Walgreens to buy milk/cereal and I-Ride ticket, get something to eat, then crawl into bed for some much needed sleep! It will prob be the same again, minus the trip to Walgreens, which will prob be replaced with a stroll around the hotel to get the lay of the land!

Oh what a wonderful time you have ahead of you:banana:
We arrive mid afternoon so after we have unpacked we go off to DTD not really to eat much but enjoy being there . then the next morning up very early to start our wonderful holiday :rotfl2:
But this year we are staying WLV and are going straight to MK to see Fireworks WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Recent trips we have stayed in a villa for the whole holiday, so our plan is to get to the villa, unpack and then I go to Publix.
That's it....Joshua is too tired for us to even consider going out anywhere.

Now though, we always stay at the Hyatt MCO hotel the first night, just really find it helps us, especially not having to leave the Airport as Josh is exhausted by now.
Shops, restaurants and bars are available for us to use, and it's a very nice hotel too - especially the runway view's.

:thumbsup2 Just remember the time difference Orlando is 5 hrs behind us and think about how long it can take to clear Immigration and if your driving pick up the hire car and getting to your villa or hotel depending on where it is and how familiar you are with the roads.:thumbsup2
We've usually been up since 4am and we normally have a lunch time flight so by the time we get to Orlando and then get to our hotel check in and get to our room its usually Midnight our time so we're very tired. I go with DS and get the food while DH unpacks the essentials and we have our food and about an hour later go to bed completely cream crackered.
If you think you'll want to do something once your there that first night why not just have a meal somewhere local and relax.:)

Buy some food, when we're in a villa, try and stay awake... and if we've got time, we always seem to end up at DTD...and soak up the atmosphere!

I have so many things I want to do the first night. I've still not firmed up our plans yet, but ill probably choose between;

1. Get to the hotel, dump the cases, grab some supplies from Goodings at the crossroads, then head to DTD for a couple of hours to get our DQ annual passes and get some use from them.

2. Dump the cases, and head off to Premium Outlets to buy some trainers and Disney pins to start our collection, then Walmart or Publix for groceries.

or, if there is any delays or we are way too tired;

3. Dump the cases, walk to the crossroads for something to eat, grab a beer in the hotel then bed.

Decisions decisions....:teeth:

Feel the amazing flroida heat as you walk out of the airport, check in, dump the bags, head to nearest sports type bar and have Ice Cold Bud out of a 4 pint Pitcher, plates of Buffalo wings, celery and dip. Stay awake as long as possible then bed. Up very early next day. Decide over breakfast what we are going to do.

If you go to one of the parks just for the evening doesn't that use up one of your day passes???:confused3

We normally arrive at the hotel, check in, unpack then go and get something to eat. :goodvibes

We usually end up at a McDonalds as it is simple and about all I can manage to eat. :confused3

By the time we have eaten we are normally too tired to do anything so end up going to bed. However we try to stay awake until around 10pm as this then puts into a better rountine for the holiday as we will then normally sleep till about 7am the following morning - just the right time :thumbsup2
