We will be arriving around 8pm our first night - I am wondering if going to downtown disney would be worth it for the famiy - I had really wanted to get the kids the pins with their names on them ( forget what they are called) plus photo albums - before we start out the next morning.

Anyone ever try this. Is the downtown shopping area too adult at that time of night?

Helen

Downtown Disney isn't to "adult" at night. Downtown Disney is made up of stores, such as Legoland, World of Disney and many others along with several restaurants. The "adult" at night area is Pleasure Island, which is made up of night clubs (seperate entry). So you will be doing fine by shopping at Downtown Disney on your first evening.

Have a fun trip!

DTD is one of our favorite things to do outside of the parks. Very kid friendly and a great way to begin a trip. The guest of honor badges can be found at the Christmas shop there.

We usually head to DTD on our first night to get in the Disney mood. However we check in around 3:00. I know that if I arrived at 8:00pm, I would be getting into bed for a good night's sleep to start the next day. But I have young children.

Sure, DTD is great for the first night, you can do all of your pre shopping at World of Disney, eat at many of the awesome restaurants and get the magic feeling! See the lights and such from PI and view SSR from across the water! Have fun! ::MickeyMo

We do DTD on our last night. That way we can buy our "Disney Stuff" that night, instead of lugging it around the parks during the week. ;) For us it's a great way to end the week.Leisurely strolling around,EVERYTHING Disney still, great food and buying our souvineers for our trip back home.We did it at night, perfect weather, after a day of chilling by the pool back at the resort....ahhhh,wish I were there now... :cloud9:

We're staying at POR and can't wait to take the boat to DD. I've heard that the huge Lego store is lots of fun and they have a lovely carousel. Enjoy! ::MickeyMo

Don't forget the fountains right inside the Marketplace by the World of Memories! We went twice during our last trip and the boys played for 45 min to an hour each time!

Also, go by Basin on your first night there and get a few bath bombs. You'll enjoy them each evening as you take a leisurely, yummy scented, bath!

We always go to DTD our first night - and we normally get there around 8:30-9 pm. You don't have to go to everything, and you don't have to buy anything. It is just nice to browse and take note of things you might want to buy later in the trip.

But buy the bath bombs first thing.
